      Ah!

      I'm not working with the best screen and, with black on gray, that's just looked - well it was unclear to me. 2 years ago I'd have probably remembered it, from the other system I've mentioned, but on the screen I'm using now (usually devoted to something else), it's hard to see. (I have to change terminal settings on most of my systems to use something like green on black that look like the old phosphor monitors so there's good contrast.)

      Okay, I'll use that later today when I'm at over where I have that system.

      (This is a temporary environment for it - I'm setting it up to send to a relative who has just moved out of his house, so this is something for him to do when he's stuck in his apartment at night, alone, without a wife or kids anymore. He has some game consoles, but has never had anything like RetroPie.)

      Just wondering - is there a reason that notification is in something lower contrast like black on gray instead of something like red or green for the text? (I realize it's on a black screen, so you can't use black as a background.)

      @mgrabow

      Depending on which libretro core you use, when enabling cheats, your setting is probably stored as a core option in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-core-options.cfg .

      Something like this (depending on which core) :

      mame_cheats_enable = "enabled"

      Try to set your, similar, line on "disabled" to disable the cheats.

      @sharkytowers Your issue is not related to this topic.
      For RetroArch Windows issues you'd better ask in the libretro forums - forums.libretro.com, which seem to be down at the moment - or on their Reddit forum over at reddit.com/r/retroarch.

      ?

      @addison
      Some arcade-style controllers allow you to use a turbo to make make it seem like you are rapidly spamming a button. Ex: In Street Fighter, certain moves like Chun-Li's Lightning Kick would be executed almost immediately without you spamming buttons.

      @mitu While speaking with NETPLAY, an instant text/voice messaging application for the community (Teamspeak / Mumble / or better: Discord) would be great to find mate to do netplay games. Like i posted into another thread : link text

      @rhino said in RetroArch version:

      So after using one of prebuilt images you end up with proper distro and can stay up-to-date by re-running the script and there's no need to reinstall even after major Retropie releases?

      Pretty much yes. At some point though the current OS (RasPI OS) becomes unsupported (both upstream and by RetroPie) and you'll have to upgrade your OS by installing a new image.

      I'm no expert, but I think RetroArch can only have one mouse index per player. So I don't think you can assign two of these devices at the same time through the menu. If it were possible to somehow make the operating system see two input devices on the same device index that would be one way. I have no idea how to do it though.

      I think as painful as it may be, the only thing to do is assign whichever device the most games use as the default and then create game specific overrides for those that use the other device type.

      I have found the holy grail in this repo line:
      https://github.com/meleu/RetroPie-joystick-selection/blob/master/jsfuncs.sh#L345

      Basically in order to change the index, we should just edit /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg at this line:
      input_player1_joypad_index = "some_index_number"

      or whatever input player you want. NOTE: i didn't tested it yet, but this might work.

      RetroArch's version is pinned in the install script, installing from source will still get you the pinned version. If you update your RetroPie-Setup script, the latest version available will be 1.9.7.

      If you wish to build the latest master or and another version, you need to modify the retroarch package script and change the branch used here. Note that RetroPie applies some patches to the source (here), if they don't apply correctly to the version you want to build, you'll need to comment the patches before installing from source.

      @mitu I did indeed configure my controller when I first booted up. Had to re-do it a few times because I was having issues with the blue tooth. I guess I must have mucked something up when I re-configured my controller, because I went back to re-configure my input from the emulationstation ui just to make sure, and now the problem is fixed, I feel like such a dope for not trying this, thanks.

      @gaz I am out of ideas here, and having never used the Lightgun outside of the Raspberry Pi, I would definitely suggest bringing this back to the Sinden Lightgun discord, as Andy will likely be able to best help troubleshoot the scenario.

      Specifically, if the gun works in other software such as the test apps, it might be something simple that I am not knowledgeable enough nor experienced enough to detect. The Linux-specific channel there might be the best to get to the bottom of this, but do share whatever you find here, as if there's something that we can change on our end I suspect we'll be happy to accommodate.

      Sorry about that.
