You should really read the docs on Skyscraper - especially the part about the cache.

Well, it did - at least for the internal ES scraper. For other scrapers, I don't think so, otherwise I image it would have been reported.

I am having the same issue as you, all was working fine prior updating to 4.5. However if I enable OMX player it makes no difference, in face it is worst as no videos play.

This issue for me is only related to Mame preview videos. Everything else works fine.

I might try downloading the mame videos again, but does anyone have any idea what the issue could be?

I think that's not supported at the moment, but I think it's a planned feature (custom platform aliases). I see you found a workaround in the mean time :).

@cwalk828 Usually this is up to the theme, the scraper just downloads the files (images/videos) and adds them to the gamelist.xml used by Emulationstation. But I don't think this is supported by Emulationstation (playing video in the bg) - if you're interested in this kind of display I think Pegasus (another front-end) might support this.

The gamelist.xml needs to have the assignments for each and every piece of media. If its a new .xml it won't have any direction to the scraped graphics.

I'm sure there must be a way for it to work, in emulationstation there is an option for local media, I don't know what that means but I always thought it was something like that. In skyscraper there are options for local media, but I don't know if it would work like that without the cached database for everything.

Which scraper is not working ? RetroPie has a few scrapers installed now - are you talking about the Emulationstation scraper or the external scraper(s) ?

Yes. This is simply about waiting for the server to not be overloaded if not registered user. I've seen the 'V' now as well as messaging about not being a registered user. Evenings are working best in my particular time zone.

I finally got it!!!

As a matter of self-defense, I run a pi-hole as my DNS server. Well, after reading another post referencing turning off the firewall, it gave me the idea to bypass my pi-hole. Once I did that, it was working as it should.

I know the author has abandoned this program, but I really wish he'd come back and put some better error messages in it. Line 26511 doesn't help me. "Hey, I can't get out" would have helped me a great deal and saved me a lot of time and aggravation

@colombia20102018 Well, I never told you to overwrite anything, but to add said lines to the end of the config file. A video wouldn't help much more if you don't follow it exactly either, and you don't have to know anything about scripts just to add two lines at their end (besides that the config file isn't a script anyway).

Follow instructions exactly as given, lest you stand in your own way on the path to success.

This only as a friendly word of advice for the future – imagine the sentence in bold print shouted in an overacting, dramatic voice like in bad movies. 😉
