      Aha!

So it works, thank you very much for your guidance, Rascas!

So, for future Googlers who may be having this same issue (Missing the PVR's in Kodi on Retropie), here's the full solution:

Install Retropie, then install Kodi via the "Optional Packages" in the configuration menu.

When you're in Retropie, press F4 on your keyboard to open a Terminal window.

Enter the following commands one at a time (to install the "IPTV Simple PVR"):

      apt-cache search kodi-pvr

      sudo apt-get install kodi-pvr-iptvsimple

Once complete, type "exit" (without the quotation marks) to get back into Retropie.

Scroll to Ports then choose Kodi.

In Kodi, DO NOT go to PVR's. If you do you will see it is blank and will get angry and think what you did in fact did not work.

Instead, go to "Add-Ons" then "My Add-Ons" and view "All" and you will see the IPTV simple client. Go to it and then Enable it as most likely it will be Disabled to begin with.

      Voila!

If you know how to use IPTV then go ahead and set it up.

      Take Care!

SSH works. I can go into my terminal program and SSH into the pi just fine. But when I open CyberDuck (my FTP/SFTP client) and try to connect, it just times out. I have not changed the default password.

Are you sure you're using SFTP/SCP as a connection type ? FTP would not work with SSH.

When I try to connect to the SMB share through Finder, it won't accept my password.

Have you tried as 'Guest' ? That should work also - no problem using that on any version of RetroPie/Raspbian.

I don't know the author. I am planning to use this build I have as a temporary until I get my keyboard in the mail. BTW how are you always on here? You give replies 24/7! XD

@mitu said in Running EmulationStation through SSH:

It's not possible, since EmulationStation (on a Pi) doesn't use the X.org libraries and it's not an X11 application.

Well, I guess that's one thing I can mark off my "To do" list!

      Thanks.

Skyscraper has an import module, use it to add your own info to the cache so your information doesn't get overwritten in the resulting gamelist.xml. Runtime logs can be found in $HOME/RetroPie-Setup/logs, timestamped and compressed.

@tmshll said in GPi SSH/PuTTY issues:

      @cyperghost Hi,

I created an SSH file (blank txt file and then deleted the extension) I also made sure SSH was enabled via interfacing options through Retropie.

As for setting up the WiFi I created a wpa_supplicant.conf file on my SD, and input my details (am I right in thinking my SSID is the same as my WiFi network name on my router?) I think this worked as I tested the WiFi by downloading extra splash screens via the GPi case.

      Yes ... that seems correct.

      192.168.1.7

      Yes, that's your IP ....

      @mitu
Windows is very weak in handling ports ;)
You can use pping and a command like PPing retropie 22 to determine if port 22 is open.

@tmshll In your example the call would be PPing 192.168.1.7 22 to check connection to SSH port 22

Okay, for some reason, the screen command needs an sh after the -L on a Raspbian-based Retropie. sh starts a new shell with the script in it. On my Desktop PC running Kubuntu Linux 18.04, the command works without the sh, but on my Raspberry Pi running Retropie, it needs the sh to work as intended.

Whatever, please try this with an sh behind -L:

      screen -S bezelproject -L sh /home/pi/RetroPie/retropiemenu/bezelproject.sh

Thanks sudo /usr/sbin/sshd -d to debug helped a lot.
It was the very first line /etc/ssh/sshd_config that had been uncommented, I noticed it wasn't in yours but it kind of blends in and I kept ignoring it for some reason.

@hansolo77 You can place a file named sshto boot directory. This will enable ssh, too. I hope that ssh is enabled by default on next release ;)
