@tp3107 apologies, I have now fixed this through trial and error. Believe there was an override somewhere along the line.

@mitu Yes I did everything works Fine. I got a 1440p Monitor (as you probably alr know) and I switched to a 1080p Monitor everything works fine. I should prolly go check it on my 1440p Monitor again. I think the only thinks that won't load are the things happening on "console".

@tigtagle said in Rasp-Config not working:

I also used a wolfanoz image for arcade 1up and flashed that onto my card too.

3rd party images are not supported as they are often distributed with copywrited material and are basically impossible to troubleshoot.

@mitu Thank you! Very simple solution, and it works perfectly! I didn't realize you could add scripts in there.

I still get the fun "failed to find mixer element" when I run the script, run a rom, or shutdown the system, but I'm not too worried about that. At least the audio works in both configurations now.

@pojr said in RetroPie stuck in 4:3 (the interface, NOT the games):

      @dankcushions
I don't think it would be 81, but you are correct that it's wrong. Shouldn't be 16 because my TV only displays up to 720p, not 1080p. Although it is a 16:9 TV (not 64:27 like it shows under #81). Also, my TV frequency isn't 30Hz, unless I'm missing something.

you've fixed it now so i guess this is irrelevant but yes, you'd need to use hdmi_group=2 for 81 - it doesn't seem to be supported under 1. but yes, @mitu 's suggestion would get show you the complete list of supported modes. given that it's less than 4k, i would always want to be running in the native panel resolution so you don't get scaling artefacts.

i assume now you've taken out hdmi_safe you can safely take out any hard coded modes and it should hopefully choose 1366x768 by default.

It tells you to use raspi-config. You can run it by sudo raspi-config (sudo runs it as root = administrator).

Not to resurrect a dead post, but this was the first helpful result in a quick search so I'd imagine others would kand here as well.

For me the issues was the keyboard mapping. I didn't realize it was off until I went to manually edit a /etc/network/interfaces.d/99-wifi file to add the lines referenced above. Vi was acting weird because of the mapping being off.

tl;dr make sure all of the localisation settings are configured prior to doing the wifi setup.

Using raspi-config to change the audio output will not write to /boot/config.txt, but will change the ALSA (sound system) settings.
Changing the settings from the raspi-config will invoke

      amixer cset numid=3 2

underneath. Try running this command from the command line (exit EmulationStation via the menu or by pressing F4) and see if the settings are kept after a reboot.
If that doesn't work, then add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Thanks sudo /usr/sbin/sshd -d to debug helped a lot.
It was the very first line /etc/ssh/sshd_config that had been uncommented, I noticed it wasn't in yours but it kind of blends in and I kept ignoring it for some reason.

Well I tried running sudo ./RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.shand I tried to scrape using all of the websites but it kept showing data not found. I tried every single website and it kept saying data not found. Nothing was scraped even after I tried twice.

I still don't understand whats wrong. It keeps failing no matter what.

@jabbafeet I don't expect other people's numbers to be useful for other cases, as different TV sets have different requirements. I'd encourage you to follow the steps mentioned in the previous posts and understand what ranges work for you in the end. In one monitor I have I don't need these, in another one I end up needing negative values for some reason.

Ok, that did the trick. Strangely though, after I changed the setting and tried getting back into the UI, the graphics were all black sans the menu options in the lower left. Went ahead and did a basic install, and now I'm back in business. Thanks @AlexMurphy and @BuZz !!

      Now to get Reicast working...

Truth to be told I am more confident with Sudoku and subway more than Sudo and terminals but at least I can get the point of the deep waters of using Berryboot. Thanks. :)
