    i would be great to have heroes of might and magic 3 on retropie ;) your idea sounds pretty realistic, i didn't know VCMI supports arm processors. any ideas how to implement it into retropie ? cheers

    @PetroRie 1 hour. I use it to prepare and devour lunch, work on themes and watch stuff on YouTube. I'll occasionally get into modes of playing stuff. Before I discovered retropie I had a full LaunchBox setup on my work computer.

    I'l just add; I thought the OP was talking about a personal network. I run my setup off my NAS drive, so I have plenty of space for my larger files.

    @meleu Perfect, many thanks for this! Exactly what I was looking for. I always take routine backups.

    @BuZz said in New 4.1.20 RetroPie images for testing:

    If this is supposed to be funny - it's not. It just shows a complete lack of understanding of the issue.

    I completely understand the issue.
    I think that retort just shows a complete lack of understanding of how the webcam "hack" was done. The webcams sent a upnpc command the victims routers to open ports so the victims could access the cameras outside of their home network. The "hackers" sniffed for the open port...found it and logged in with the default password. This is not hard. Raspbian/Retropie do not open ports on the router...although upnpc is installed by default....thats kinda interesting. I wonder how many folks running Rays image have actually opened up thier home networks?

    Even if a port was open on the router (most of the time there is one open) it would still need to be directed to the pi for a hack to occur. Steam and many other video games open ports all the time. The comparison to retropie and the security camera incident is not really valid. Your home network is only as secure as the router firewall protecting it and the devices inside opening ports to the outside.

    Again....I asked...you said no....its your distro....that's that.
    Apologies for ruffling your feathers...I do love retropie and respect the work and consideration that you and others put into it.
    I consider the issue closed and will not post again about it.

    @Rookervik Thank you so much! It's such a useful tool. I think it would go really well in the ES Toolkit that @mattrixk has put together.

    @Zigurana
    By lightweight, I meant from the user interface experience. The stock full allows for scraping games, changing UI settings, etc. My custom console I am making won't have any of that, and since it's already pretty stripped down in kid mode, I can just branch off of that and do my modifications, instead of redoing what has already been done.

    Now I just can't figure out how to get my changed PNG files for the default UI elements to be applied. Just changing them doesn't update them in source, and I think res2h needs to be used to convert them after they are created. I tried doing it on frame.png, which I changed, and now I can't compile so I am trying to resolve that issue. Just changing the .png and saving over the old one doesn't work.

    @herb_fargus it also won't built on Raspbian (as you know) - but should on Ubuntu on Raspberry Pi. However, there is no advantage of 2016 over an older version for most users. Unless some obscure ancient game has been emulated that is of interest.

    @slobu So, answering your question:

    I believe what you may be looking for are "public domain roms". However, I am not sure about whether that means there are restrictions to their distribution. But yes, I am under the impression there are some Roms that are legal to download - not to mention homebrew games for each system. That might be a worthy check as well. As for your own games, I think that's always a positive thing, ultimately depending on how accessible it is to install/set them up, and assuming that you have the actual rights to their distribution. It's definitely a generous thing to do, for sure. Are they for any of the emulated systems?

    Have a great weekend.

    @applePie unlikely as it would mean having to build things to use pulseaudio, which is not desirable for most users.

    Perhaps it could be optional for retroarch, although I have not tried pulseaudio with bluetooth - if you are having trouble on the desktop, it's likely something we can't fix (related to bluetooth stack etc). RetroPie is just a system to install/configure emulators, we don't interfere much with the basic OS.

    I have a dead snes console and the replica usb controllers.
    I'm doing this now.
    Moving the /home directory to a usb stick for roms/art/configs and making the SD card OS read only so when my kids just kill the power they won't nuke the card.

    it doesn't boot super fast but if you can't wait a few minutes to play a game.......
