Indeed it does. :) One quick way to make some space is to invoke the pre-installed file manager Midnight Commander by entering the command mc in the console. It is rather self-explanatory. With it, you could delete some files you don't need to make the system at least usable again.

Which operating system is on your Laptop? Are your Pi and Laptop connected via network?

@nevisx Think about using favorites on ES. There you can collect your files so maybe a list with NES translations and NES Homebrew will help you. Real folders are not intendent to work .......

There is a bug in ES that makes folder navigation possible.

Yes, sure.

You can use the joystick selection tool created by @meleu [1] or look in the RetroArch configuration editor and switch the player mapping (i.e. P1 would be the GC controller for a certain system).

No it can be tight to a button but it can also just be called by script itself. Read more about on its help screen.
The option --es-closeemu brings you back to ES as long as you used to start Pixel officially installed by RetroPie
The option --es-poweroff performs a safe shutdown with metadata saved. So you can tie several parameters to joypad described in your how to.

But it is fundamental that any program must he launched through EmulationStation by runcommand call. The script uses runcommand as starting entry to determine all PIDs that will be closed by script call

Update: I found the culprit! Turns out that the file libretro.h had this struct definition twice:

struct retro_midi_interface { retro_midi_input_enabled_t input_enabled; retro_midi_output_enabled_t output_enabled; retro_midi_read_t read; retro_midi_write_t write; retro_midi_flush_t flush; };

This confused make since you can't redefine a struct once you declare it, causing errors and an eventual crash. Removing one of the struct definitions appears to have fixed this issue.

@amishgamer Have you tried the suggestion in the docs for the config hierarchy ? Create a romname.cfg file alonside your ROM file and put there the setting you'd like.

Well, I gave up on this and sent the controller back to Amazon. I then took my wife to Gamestop to buy a second Wii U Pro Controller, which is, by far, the best and most reliable controller for Retropie (that I've experienced, anyway).

I only have pics scraped. I used the default scraper, so I will backup my roms folder and the mentioned paths, I hope they are accesible in windows over the network . :)

@clyde okay right but a full grown standalone USB2 transfers up to 40 MB/s that is 4 times faster as your LAN.

How fast is a Raspberry with his shared USB Controller? 10MB/s? 15? Didn't test but a NAS is dedicated for file moving and if the Pie 4 got some interface upgrades it is maybe as fast as your 2011 Synology (cool device BTW with the best UI I have ever seen)

Once again,I suggest using PINN. It is basically just a bootloader that lets you download various operating system directly and offers an bootmenu.
There are two minor problems though.

You can't define the partition sizes from the GUI, there is a webpage here where you can do that beforehand. The image for RetroPie is not official, so asking for future support might be difficult. But I had no issues while using the image so far.

I've been running the 1500mhz profile from the video all night, temp on both CPU and GPU went from 35c to 39c, with a small but noticeable performance increase. I'll call that good for now.
