I had issues with Pi4 wifi too. In my case I was noticing it when sending files over Samba from W10 or using FTP, and also scraping problems. I'd get constant disconnects and transfer speeds of around 200kb/s even when it would stay working.

I found mentions online of known issues where noise from the HDMI output can disrupt the wifi signal. Every instance I saw talked about said it was only over a certain resolution (1440 I think), but I decided to try disconnecting my 5" screen anyway, which runs 800x480, and as soon as I did that the speeds went up to around 3-5MB/s and the connection stays stable.

OMG I like to complicate my life ! Sorry for the inconvenience. I will read more the docs from now on. When I think about it... I learned a lot from my negligence. It can be enjoyable to look outside the box.

Of course, that kinda' raises another question now for me: this particular file has BIN and CUE files....not sure how one would get these into .cdi or .gdi?

You don't need that, .cue/.bin files should work also.

Daytona USA won't run at any sort of playable speed on a Pi.

    Second this - no way!

@DJMoss Adding active cooling eliminated the slowdowns I encountered while running some MAME or NeoGeo games.

I just bought a R4 and have an img from R3 downloaded from arcade punks. Are the previous comments still accurate to use this IMG from R3 over my R4?

Third party images are not supported. Do so at your own risk.

I figured it out - key is to map the controls in the native emulator (in this case RPCS3) using a keyboard. Then, when playing on the pi via the Steam Link, everything worked great. What a fantastic addition!

@mitu No, I am outputting at 1080p. Which was a pain. Whenever I try to change the resolution in raspi-config it just backs me out, so I had to set the resolution via terminal /boot/config.txt.

I just discover how to do it now, my bad.
    https://github.com/JungleJim42/es-theme-collections
    this provides some help.
Basically i was putting the folder in themes with the same name as the .cfg (ex: custom-test).

To make this work the Collection .cfg in .emulationstation\collections should be custom-NAME

    and

The Theme .emulationstation\themes (create the folder if u didnt have one) copy existing theme that u want to customize from Theme folder in /etc/emulationstation/themes to the new folder that u just created, then the new folder should have the name of the collection "NAME" and not the full .cfg name "custom-NAME".

U can copy the .xml from other collection then just tweak it, it is actually super ez.

Edit: for Automatic collections just do the same process but the names for the folders are "auto-lastplayed", "auto-favorites" and "auto-allgames".

@UberLumby You can follow the instructions here.

    Thank you
"Create a symbolic link to the RetroArch core you want to use for netplay in the directory where the core info file was stored, for example
    ln -s /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fceumm/fceumm_libretro.so $HOME/.config/retroarch/cores"
This confused me a bit but I think I understand this creates a link to the existing .So I was copying and pasting them into the retroarch cores folder last night lol ops...

No, it's not specific to the RetroArch version, overrides don't save the hotkey configuration, it's saved only when saving the whole configuration.
You can try to add an extra configuration line in /opt/retropie/configs/gba/retroarch.cfg with

    input_toggle_fast_forward_btn=X

where X is the button input code for L2 - you can find it from your gamepad autoconfiguration file in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/<gamepad.cfg>.

Please add some info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

What format are your videos and how did you get them (scraper/download/other) ? EmulationStation doesn't automatically detect videos/images if copy them next to your ROMs, the videos need to be associated to the ROMs/games in the system's gamelist file. Usually a scraper does that automatically, but if you copied them manually and expect to show up in EmulationStation, that won't work.

RetroPie updates have nothing to do with the audio - it's the OS updates (kernel/firmware) that can affect it. Of course, using an experimental/beta driver might not be the most stable configuration at this time, so you might encounter issues with it from kernel/firmware version to another.
