I don't use mu .LHA files uncompressed as that is the format WHDLoad uses them in. I only use .CUE when I need CD gamers with the audio.

Have you tried plugging your Pi into different inputs? Some of them don't play well with certain resolutions or signals, so maybe the games display in a different resolution than your menus, which would explain why you only have problems when launching a game.

For instance: I have a Marantz with a front aux port which doesn’t display the SNES Mini Classic. All back inputs do.

A friend has an older Denon AVR that has this problem on all but one of his back inputs... I remember reading the reason behind this functionality, but can't recall exactly what it was.

Tldr: try different inputs

@doughughes If you can find and use "Full non-merged" romsets, then each zip file will contain all of the necessary parts and you won't have to locate a parent version of anything. Plus, it will allow you to delete all the variations of games you don't need, like other regions that aren't your preferred lanuguage. Makes life easier if you aren't overly concerned about disk space.

It looks like a package may not be completely unpacked - do you have enough space ? - so you may try with adding the --reinstall flag to apt.

@Yobiwan for Windows I personally like notepad++ for editing text files.

You can add an XML tool that helps if you're editing your gamelist.xml files and accidentally mess up the syntax.

Here is a simple solution. Salvage an old usb keyboard, take the little controller board. Follow the traces from the esc key ( there will be only 2 of the 23 or so connections) and solder the button to those points. Basically, now you have a one key, usb keyboard. Just the esc function. It works perfect for me using an old dell keyboard. You can get fancy and make a spacebar or any other charactor the same way and the one board on mine will end up 4 buttons, 1, 2 , space and esc.~~

That's because the filesystem ( the roms folder ) doesn't understand symlinks.

I want to configure advmame with joypad (I have all controls except analog sticks and this I want) for this reason I cant access to "tab" menu (only if use keyboard plug) but I cant plug to cm3 the usb keyboard for this reason I think the solution is virtual keyboard.....but if I cant do this....I search other options ^^'' Thanks for your reply! @BreadPie thanks! I was hoping there was a more elegant solution, but I’ll try just spreading the saves around the other VMUs for the games that support that.

The Mac version of Redream doesn’t have shared VMUs, so hopefully a future update will sort the Retropie version in this regard.

@XEntombmentX Make sure you understand what that entails - you'll have to maintain the custom configuration manually. Each time a new system is added (you install a new emulator) you'll have to manually copy the new system entries from the system config to the custom one.

I'm not sure the download location has changed, I don't see the doc page reference a precise location for each system. The cheats are downloaded from the Libretro buildbot AFAIK, not directly via git, the archive is generated from https://github.com/libretro/libretro-database. Both have been restored after the hack incident a while ago, so it shouldn't be an issue.

Only lr-picodrive supports multi-disc games. Are you using that emulator for your multidisc games? Details about the Sega-CD emulators can be found in the docs here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Sega-CD/

Not that I know of.

You might have accidentally created the music folder with root permissions and the pi user does not have access to it. Try changing the owner of the folder with

sudo chown pi:pi $HOME/RetroPie/roms/music

and re-try.
