I have update to Retropie 4.3 yesterday, i will try it too.

X Axis= button(0,1)
Y Axis= button(2,3)

You will need to get your button numbers. In the settings above, button 0 is left, 1 right, 2 up and 3 down.

Found the culprit.
Please use Option 1 in the above mentioned wiki to include the roms from your NAS.

Then it's working.

It will not work with Option 2.

@jonnykesh No problem. It's just on a Rapsberry Pi 3b with Retropie 4.3. Had the same issue on 4.2.

@bollwerk analog sharing is how the lr-mame2003 core work works out of the box. I have a trackball working just fine in millipede and others. It shares control with spinners. The only core options I added was mame2003-dialsharexy = "enabled" which doesn’t apply to trackball games I used to use AdvMAME for analog games but now only vector and titles that don’t launch in 2003. I never had to set an option for mouse. Maybe I left it default? I certainly didn’t add an option for it.

I fixed this. I just deleted the retroarch.cfg file located in the arcade folder. Upon reboot and starting up an arcade game it created a new file and was good to go. No clue what caused the issue to begin with, as it had been working fine for months.

thanks for the extract. Since I can't copy - i went thru it line by line and could not find any differences. I thought maybe I added a character somewhere and this is what i needed to validate.

@andrewlee32 Listen, MAME has made better men than you weep for their mothers! Your best bet for a good grounding is getting ROMs from the MAME 0.78 reference set, maybe you could google that... Put them in the Arcade folder and choose lr-mame2003 as the default. That is my VERY quick start guide to MAME.

btw: just noticed that RGUI is still the old "text one"; I remember seeing the new RGUI previously (graphical, same as windows retroarch) but cannot remember what core. Lr-mame2003 and 2010 now show the "old" one.
Is RGUI version (new vs old) depending on the specific core ?

@jazzsunn Or failing that, not even your theme. Check your ROM names for non ASCII characters. Remove anything odd or unusual from the file names.

Good find on here. This fixed it. Really annoying that this is the default config, I have to imagine many people have been thrown off by this. Anyway, I opened an issue on it w/ the master repo called by this software:

Hopefully they will roll it up - although, some of the repos there are quite old w/o maintenance on existing issues.

@vykyan retropie does have a patched version of sdl, but not sure how much is specific to the pi. I believe it's also used on x86 builds
