@alturis Are all good now? Are you using Daphne or lr-daphne?

I was going to post a write-up for you for Daphne, but if you don't need it, I won't bother.

As mitu already posted, native Daphne does not support overlays or shaders. You can try lr-daphne in the quick menu of Retroarch.

@mitu Yep, same result as you. API issue. I'll wait it out. I'm sure they are trying to get their servers to behave.

The game is not unlike other platform games of the era. Though it's unique in that you can climb walls and swing on rope with your teeth and your only method of attack is head butting enemies - straight forward or dive bomb style. The game starts off with simplistic point A to point B style, but focuses more on exploration in the later stages, which include finding hidden bonus areas. The game is also known for its trademark gameplay mechanism of 'spin attack', where Bonk floats through the air if you have the turbo button on. This can be used to float around the level and reach areas for extra/hidden items, but also as a method of attack as well. The game starts you off with 3 hearts, but allows you to increase this number when you find special heart container items, allowing Bonk to take a number of hits before dying. A variety of bonus stages can be found throughout the game, which provide bonus points upon completion and thus resulting in accumulating extra lives. Enemies themselves can be 'milked' for points in that you can keep 'bonking' their dead bodies and not letting them hit the ground. Spin attack is another method for doing this.' @clyde Also, that different emulators for the same system can require different bios file names/versions. (as is the case with lr-genesisplusgx and lr-picodrive)

I usually do just press Ctrl+r to search the command line history, enter "setup" to get the last setup command, and press Enter to run it. But mitu's solution is much more elegant (and persistent, depending on the maximum length of your command history). 👍

By the way, one thing that you might find useful is to start the setup inside a screen session, so you can logout while setup keeps doing things like updating or scraping:

screen -dmS setup sudo ~/RetroPie-Setup/retropie_setup.sh && screen -r setup

    or with mitu's alias:

screen -dmS setup rpie && screen -r setup

The && screen -r setup at the end enters the screen session immediately after its successful launch. You'll notice no difference to running setup without screen, but you can detach from it without killing setup by pressing Ctrl+aand then d (for "detach") alone. You can reattach to a running screen session by entering screen -r in the command line, optionally followed by the name of the session (e.g. screen -r setup) in the case of multiple running screen sessions.

After detaching from screen, you'll be back in the command line and you can logout normally without killing any running detached screen session. Then, you could even relogin to RetroPie from another machine and reattach yourself to your screen session from there.

Sorry for the slightly off-topic lecture, your question triggered my "sharing is caring" mode. 😇

@a12c4 Alright, it worked! kind of embarrassing since it's such a simple fix. Though thinking about it, it makes complete sense why an odd number would work. Anyway, thanks again! You saved me a lot of time, as it would have taken a while until I would have realized the problem. Take care!

@kman0318 said in controller buttons open command line:

RetroPie Version Used (eg 3.6, 3.8.1, 4.1 - do not write latest): retropie 4.7.1

Try to update the latest version (4.7.12) and update your OS/packages also (the installer will prompt you to do so). Then reboot and install the xpadneo driver before trying to pair again via Bluetooth.

@tamperedmedia i think I fixed it . Double checked all of my wires and ,while identical, select and start weren't connected in the right spots on the encoder. Once wired correctly I set both bindings in retroarch without bothering to set player 2 on the retro pie home screen. It still inverts up and down for player 2 on the main menu but it seems to work properly in game so it'll work as it is.

Hopefully it won't break again, appreciate the help.

I need this Board to put it into a small formfactor 3d-printed AES Case and run Retropie with only Neo Geo Games. This board has all the connections i need at one side. it´s perfect.

@mitu Sorry for the late reply. I messed around with my TV screen settings and fixed it that way. Thank you again for your support!
