It did end up that i did flash the card with retropie 4.4 , and voila
no error at all while setting up the wifi ,

could not communicate with wpa_supplicant error is gone when setting up . it 4.4 works , lets go for the 4.5 :=) and perhaps do a update from 4.5 to 4.6 ?

Edit: Did flash the card to 4.5.1 and working just fine with wifi and the setup during the wifi setup aswell

I should know this about the Amiga as I did have one. I wished I kept it now. I am just so used to playing games with a button for jump I forgot about the Amiga using one fire button (I used the competition pro or the 500XJ EPYX Joystick).

In regards to the custom commands to disable the up control I have worked it out.

If anyone is interested when you start an amiga game through amiberry it creates an auto-startup file.
In this file you can place a custom option after the PRELOAD command
eg PRELOAD CUSTOM1=1
You would need to visit whdload.de to see the info of the game and what custom options it has.
Comes in handy if you want to add unlimited lives etc to some games.

@mitu I was running a normal XOrg session before (which is the default on PopOS), but running emulationstation in a Wayland session worked! Unfortunately, Wayland is pretty unstable in PopOS, but maybe it will work just for running retropie.

In case anyone runs into the same issue, you have to enable Wayland as described here and it will work.

It was that indeed. Sorry, I had forgotten that I had a previous emulationstation (yes, from Ubuntu repos) install in the machine. I just re-installed the machine, and got everything from the RetroPie-Setup script this time. It works like a charm!

Ahh I get it. I thought the quick menu was the core options. I'm still finding my way around - there's a ton to retroarch!

Regarding runahead, I gave https://docs.libretro.com/guides/runahead/ a good read. I didn't try calculating the amount of runahead needed to offset the latency, but I just tried it set to 1 and the game and audio stutters. My Pi is currently setup stock speed if that matters.

Also, if I enable a second instance in there, I get Failed to create second instance.

Found the retroarch config thanks for the fps. So many places to set stuff.

When filtering, to create a new list (for example all CPS1 games or all the konami beat-em-up games), do you have a way to select multiple games or do you have to scroll the filtered list and add each title one by one?

Other frontends on Windows for example are able to create customized lists with few clicks, so I hope this is possible on Emulationstation too.

Hi, given the line bios_boot failed to copy bootfile I believe the rom you're using is corrupt. It's failing to find the 1ST_READ.BIN on the disc.

I can't help you with attract-mode setup, I'm not using it. I think you need to add the folder yourself and scan it for ROMs.

I did wonder if the system volume at 0% was the issue but that's something that just wont save when I set it higher?

If you disabled the on-board sound and your USB soundcard is the only output option, then the in EmulationStation the Audio Card should be set to 'Defaut' and the Default Device to PCM or Master (?). But the settings here affect only EmulationStation and not AttractMode or the emulators, so if you're not using EmulationStation, it's ok to leave them at defaults.

If you're using berryboot, that has its own config.txt

Berryboot isn't supported btw, and we don't provide berryboot images for the rpi4. I wasn't sure if you meant above you installed the standard image to test after.

@mitu nvm, I shall just reflash the retropie pre-built image.

Tate mode doesn't auto-rotate. TATE mode adjusts the screen to fill your monitor. What you need to do is is specify the exact rotation you want for each game you need to and make a game-specific config file for it. If you have auto-rotation on and auto-rotate on, you will get some weird results. Auto-rotation should be turned off when using TATE mode (setting allow_video_rotate = false). Some games will need 180 degree rotation. You'll have to decide which end of your monitor you will consider your base (the one that will be the bottom edge when you spin it).

For each game you want to have in cocktail mode, you will likely need a cfg file with the setting
video_rotation = 2
for games that need to be flipped. Set it to 0 (or don't write a cfg) for games that sit the right way from the get go.
