@Morotezuki - I would definitely check your local laws especially for something worthwhile as non-profit that helps other people. I've seen it more than once where you can legally rent arcade machines for non-profit use in the US. The key being a rental or even donations for non-profits/charities.

After working with local law enforcement for 20+ years they would be hard pressed to turn something like that over to the State's Attorney or Attorney General for prosecution let alone those offices wanting to take the man hours and resources away from serious felony crimes. I've watched street cops make decisions off intent (was it good or bad) and they chose not to cite any type of citation, ticket or arrest due to that intent. When there's no unlawful intent they will usually leave it to the parties to find a resolution. Intent makes all the difference in deciding how to proceed.

You can actually sue someone throwing paper on your lawn (or anything for that matter) but it introduces two challenges. Finding a lawyer to take your case would be near impossible (try calling a few and explain a weird situation, they'll have you off the phone before you can say prosecute) let alone a judge to rule in favor of a crime that opens the judicial system to abuse and tying up courts for petty crimes.

It's like staying off the FBI's top 50 list of crimes. If you do it's more than likely you'll never see them knocking on your door, literally true. Should we go after the Pac-Man player trying to feed the homeless or a "new" serial killer or drug dealer dropping 5 keys of coke on the streets weekly. No contest.

I imagine most of the members on the forums use ROMs illegally but the laws don't deter us old gamers much from doing what we love and I don't imagine they care that much.

Anyway I would check your laws as there's usually a legal workaround especially when folks are trying to help law enforcement, juveniles or feeding the homeless, hungry, etc. They aren't there to strictly enforce the law to the letter or make a community miserable when it comes to doing good. Basically doing good for a community at large is a healthy great idea. I wouldn't give up trying to do good things! :)

@barbudreadmon I don't have an issue with flycast. I was testing an issue for another forum member, so I wanted to downgrade to their version. But yes, I will certainly report any defects I come across.

Also, what's Ether? Never heard of it. I used Win32DiskImager only because Etcher doesn't work on Windows Vista. I hate Win32. I need some sort of easy alternative like Etcher.

@mitu: I suspect that you're right, it's some kind of bot filtering, but I'd go a bit father. My browser was left open for a few days, so I don't think it's just when you open the tabs. Since some pages, especially forum pages, phone home to check on updates, I think the site is aware of the multiple connections.

    Thanks!

@snock said in retroarch.cfg global and core.:

So if the roms is executed, and automatically the retroarch.cfg of the specific system (turbografx cd) is modified and many configuration lines are added.

That's because you've activated Save on Exit in RetroArch's RGUI for that system or maybe you've reset the configuration file from the RGUI - on exit, the simple retroarch.cfg for that system is overwritten by RetroArch.

I did a power cycle/reset on my TV which seems to have fixed the issue. Im guessing my TV may have done an automatic update overnight which may have caused the issue in the first place.

@mitu said in scummvm: Extrapath por specific games in emulationstation:

It's because the launcher specifically sets extrapath when launching the .svm entry. But ScummVM shoud search in the game folder for the files needed - have you tried copying the extra folder files in the game folder ?

OMG, I dind't read it properly. Copied the files from that specific extra folder to the main game folder and... It works.

    So simple.

    THANK YOU A LOT.

    TOPIC SOLVED.

@SpudsMcToole I'm picky when it comes to snes emulation and for portables I understand I can't run the latest bleeding edge versions, but the zero is only powerful enough to run the oldest snes emulator available, snes9x2002. Expect lower-end emulators to only work on a zero.

I ended up getting a new 3ds. Besides supporting ds/3ds, you can inject your roms so they'll work with the official virtual console nes/snes/gen/gba/emulators if you wish to not use retroarch's emulators. It can handle snes9x2005 except for special chip games but there's also another snes emulator specially made for the 3ds. It does require a $20 ds flashcart to flash it with custom firmware, but overall I love this setup.

I just created an account on screenscraper.fr . I edited the file with my login info and now it seems to be working for the most part. However it only missed a few games?

Maybe I did the scraper thing right?

    @Evert

Is it plugged directly to the wall?

The short answer is yes the ac/dc adapters can go bad and output less voltage over time.

The long answer is that this generally takes a very long time. If you are plugged into a surge protector or power strip that is much more likely to be the culprit imo.
