This is great info even for those of us who are not using standard HD video resolutions. Anyone building an arcade cabinet using dirt cheap 17 or 19-inch LCDs typically find them running 1280x1024 resolution, and although 1024p is not 1080p, it's certainly better than 720, and I can definitely attest to how nice the CRT-PI shader looks at 1024.

It's also handy to know that the shader looks best when it has 4x game resolution to render the scanline and shadow mask effects. This has come up in a few other threads over the past few months--people building hand-held devices that have tiny screens sometimes ask about using the CRT-PI shader. I had always thought you would need extra pixels to make the CRT effect look nice. I guess my advice was sound. Good info all around.

I solved the problem. Like how I caused the problem, I don't know what actually fixed it, but I went into the... myriad of config files, from the command line and from the configuration editor in EmulationStation, setting the shaders to "false" as per your suggestion and this fixed things, only the GB games were black and white instead of green and worse green. But I solved this in the quick menu>options>BG Colorization custom and >Internal Palette GBC - Green, although that second one may not be necessary.

The kicker is the game I've been playing, in monkeying around with stuff, I wound up making additional config files for this specific game, so it was still green(!) I used the File Manager in ES and went to /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch/config/Gambatte and deleted all the .cfg files except Gambatte.cfg, which was the file I had edited earlier to fix things (I think). But it works now and I'll leave these shaders and things alone for a while until I'm ready to make another big mess.

But i didnt used the scraper function at all .
I used an image to install retropie with roms and everything .
Start it up and all info and images are there next to the games .

I add 3 psx games with my usb stick , restart retropie and all the images and info are gone next to the games . Only the gamelist is there .

Without using scraper for those 3 psx games i added .

@Fruitybit Nah, I've got loads of room, at least 20GB.

@SrBlank did you try unplugging the touchscreen and try booting with hdmi? I ask because you need to rule out a corrupt sd card which can do this exact same thing.

@SpudsMcToole there are warnings all over to back up your builds! Also, where are you storing all of these? There are certain folders that get overridden during updates. There are other folders like .emulationststion that do not. You should follow tutorials and save you custom work in folders that do not get overridden.

@edmaul69 I was actually able to get it to work. I tried a different ps3controller option, Shanwan Clone, and both controllers immediately connected. Problem solved, hooray!

edit: This also seems to have solved my Bluetooth reconnect issues as well. If anybody else is having the issues that I was, I suggest trying a few of the other ps3bluetooth driver options.

Problem solved here. What I had to do was unplug the keyboard dongle and reboot, then pair the joypads one at a time. With that done, putting the keyboard dongle back in didn't seem to conflict any more and everything's fine.

I'm having the same kind of issue, except I still haven't found a way to figure it out ... Posted it as an original topic here, but no one came to my rescue :(

@Awsomepie that's always the worst. Those are the times where I wish I had a visual savestate where it takes a screenshot of where I'm at in the game like on pajama Sam. I guess there are always cheat codes...

Retropie is built for the raspberry pi, not an arduino.

I redid the setup of kodi as a standalone system per (https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/KODI) again and that worked!

@RetroHopeful Not at all. That file only has the settings for the latest controller you configured, no worries :)

It effectively suggests that select is being mapped as the hotkey - which is a good sign!

I'd expect you'd be able to exit a game by pressing the keys you mapped to select and start, together, on the keyboard. And, as you redefine your other controllers, I'd expect you to be able to do the same for each as that happens.

Still, I'm puzzled/concerned with that error message you keep getting - that clearly suggests something is wrong with your current setup.

At this stage, if it isn't too much trouble, I'd strongly suggest formatting your SD card (or trying out a new one), reinstalling the image, and seeing how that goes.
