@Gabbo999 you can install the desktop environment packages from the server install. Eg. Installing the ubuntu-desktop/xubuntu-desktop package (or another of your choice)

@tslayer71 What's the brand of your 1TB sd card?
It is very possible that it is a fake one and the true size is smaller...

Test the card for its true size, using one of the methods listed here:

I think the Bios changed position. It is now in home\pi\retropie\bios\amiga and it must contain

Kickstart v1.3 rev 34.5 (1987)(Commodore)(A500-A1000-A2000-CDTV).rom
Kickstart v2.05 rev 37.350 (1992)(Commodore)(A600HD).rom
Kickstart v3.1 rev 40.68 (1993)(Commodore)(A1200).rom

I am not sure about the 600 rom if it is necessary though.

It's a bit more difficult to install Python itself and overwrite the system's installed one, I was thinking you might have installed an older version of the GPIO Python module, which might explain the error message.

@windg Nope, it was the first I tried. I tried also Ctrl-X, Ctrl-C, Ctrl-Q, F10, Alt itself to see if a menu appears... Nothing worked, otherwise I wouldn't ask.

this is a (sort of) known issue.

specifically, MAME (not 2003 or any of the libretro cores, but MAME standalone) appears to be faster run via the desktop, than via the framebuffer. some info here: https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/28362/enhanced-performance-of-mamedev-mame-in-x11

i wonder if this could be fixed by configuring the launch script to launch MAME within X (on pi only)?

it has been on my list to investigate for years now, but yeah...

@Ataru22 Yep, the gun(s) play like to be in the lowest number USB Ports on the PI, its easier to configure that way. I have two guns plugged in like that and have a USB hub for all the stuff, after those and it all works fine.

If the RetroPie menu is still function then you can copy your roms to external storage with the help of the file manager, you will need a keyboard.

When you open the file manager you will saw two same panels, from here you have access to all system files. You can choose panel with tab button. Choose to one panel your external storage and to the other panels the files you want to copy/paste. Then choose the file/folder you want to transfer and press the F5 button, they will copy to the external storage.

Get a verbose log from running an emulator and then post the resulting log file on pastebin.com. Also post your joystick configuration profile here in the topic, surrounded by code tags (``` before and after the contents)

@mitu thanks for the response, unfortunately lr-mame2000 doesn't run any of my roms (it's a pretty old set, not sure if that's a problem or not). I've spent far too much time on this so I think I'll just get some USB-powered speakers and use the adapter device. Cheers!

The hotkeys are automatically added when you configure your controller in EmulationStation, can you post the controller profile generated for your controller, located in /opt/retropie/configs/retroarch-joypads ? There should be a .cfg file named after your controller, which contain the configuration of the controller.

@tmxretro the "h" key is the default retroarch "reset content" hotkey and, without a controller connected, there is no default "enable hotkey" hotkey configured, so all the other ones (like "reset content") will work on their own, with just a single keypress.

You can toggle game focus with the "game focus (toggle)" hotkey (default: scroll_lock, configurable from settings > input > hotkeys > game focus (toggle)). While game focus is enabled, other hotkeys (including "exit emulator") will not function, passing full keyboard control to the loaded core; press scroll_lock again to disable game focus and return hotkey functionality.
