Aha!
The USB charger cube I was using (true Apple 12W) REFUSES to charge/power the Sony Controller! When I used a cheap no name USB cube it now connects and stays connected. Yay!

@mitu Thanks. It seems the creator of this image had a bunch of lr-mess-* source packages that don't seem to be supported in the new retropie. Not sure if I need them, but I removed them for now and will see what happens. Maybe the update was a bad idea ¯_(ツ)_/¯. Just figured I would try and get the latest.

It seems to reboot at least after the os update and retropie update, so all is good for now.

As I have all the ROMs I want collected (that's why it takes so long for the EmuStation to read) I will give it a try.

The issue was that using purge on pulseaudio did not fully uninstall, so you have to go into the retropie setup as detailed in this guide.

Of course needed to setup the gameslist update properly afterwards in retropie_setup.sh directly via terminal.

@dk23 not that I will know the answer, but I had this with PSP emulator, and N64 when setting up windowed mode in the txt files while exploring/experimenting the files and paths.

I would help anyone who knows more if you'd share which console(s) you emulate and with which core.

See this forum post for running games directly from a physical media. I don't think lr-pcsx-rearmed supports physical media though, for PS1 you need the Mednafen PSX core.
As far as Gamecube/PS2, I don't think the emulators in RetroPie (Dolphin/PCSX2) support reading the game from physical media.

It's not installed by default, you need to install it first, from the drivers section of the packages.

/opt/retropie/supplementary/runcommand/runcommand.sh 0 _SYS_ "<SYSTEM>" "<ROM>" To automatically start a specific system and a game directly instead of EmulationStation, you need to edit /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh and add the above line (again replacing the variables with your own values). Then, in the same file, remove any line containing #auto entirely to avoid EmulationStation or KODI to autostart again.

I checked on my system and using lr-atari800 should start the game, though the checksum I have is different (45f8841269313736489180c8ec3e9588) than yours. I also tried a different game (BerZerk) and it started without issues.

Make sure you're using the latest lr-atari800 and remove again $HOME/.lr-atari800.cfg. I don't think the latest version of the core uses a .cfg file anymore, but just delete it for good measure.
