@Eckaji the soundtarcks for mortal kombat, outrun, final fight, moonwalker, nbajam and double dragon optional if the user wants them the option can be turned on add off in the option menu so no need to delete the samples if you want the original arcade sounds. Its just an added feature to make the games come to life a little more. Flac support has been added recenty as well to save on space

@woutertron is there any chance that you use Discord chat, or would be willing to?

There is a libretro/RetrArch Discord server where all of the active mame2003-plus developers (as well as a lot of other RA and core devs) can be reached. This is a direct link to the Discord channel, where I can be PM'd or tagged in #programming: https://discord.gg/C4amCeV

The other way that mame2003-plus developers tend to communicate is via github. It so happens that grant already has an issue stubbed out to talk about documentation related to input and input remapping: https://github.com/libretro/mame2003-plus-libretro/issues/329

That would be a great place to start if you're interested! :D

Q1 - Can i plug some of the mayflash type adapters into one of the ports and have this work in tandem for certain games.

      Yes, sure.

Q2 - How would i set it up so that the control type could be switched for different games.

You can use the joystick selection tool created by @meleu [1] or look in the RetroArch configuration editor and switch the player mapping (i.e. P1 would be the GC controller for a certain system).

I wanted to separate them as the image is not mine and I wanted to use them in my own image?

Then why not just copy them into the same directories on your image?

@mitu with regards to the information which you said has the details of requirements to run the roms, is this something that is contained in something like a text file that is in the rom zip or where would i find that information?

Some of the games that I have attempted to scrape artwork for, I haven't been able to find artwork on the site that it uses. I have seen that there are Youtube videos which allow you to create it manually but these seem to involve many steps and I was just wondering if there's an easier way to do it.

@metalextractor said in Arcade Controller only works in some games:

There are just too many mame emulator directories by default :(

The choice depends on which romset you possess according to https://retropie.org.uk/docs/MAME/, providing that you have the correct known and verified set, it is plug and play with the emulators of your choice. I use lr-mame2003 with the 0.78 set and have never had an issue with anything.

      Great craftsmanship and detailed explanation.

But for those that don't have access to power tools or can borrow from a friend or nabor a pre cut DIY kit are not always expensive.

"Friends" The One Where Joey Dates Rachel (2002) Phoebe gives Chandler and Monica a late wedding present: the game Ms Pac-Man.

After Chandler fills the Ms. Pac-man machine with some very rude initials, Phoebe tries to beat all of his top scores before Ben comes over and sees them...

@enderandrew Hello. MAME is indeed a beast and before you begin even thinking about installing anything at all on anything, I recommend that you read read and read again. Here are some links to help you understand a bit about the MAME variants that are supported on Retropie...

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/7247/guide-arcade-games-and-how-to-play-them-a-non-technical-mame-fba-tutorial

      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2859/how-to-use-mame-with-retropie-help-guide

      https://choccyhobnob.com/mame/demystifying-mame-roms/

Once you have read these, you should have good understanding of what you need to get. You will need to be comfortable in updating romsets over time to maintain functionality but personally, I build with the recommended emulators depending on the hardware I choose. I don't use windows so I cannot comment on that but all the links above stand true for Arcade emulation regardless.

      Good Luck and....

Here is the compatibility list (second tab along the bottom)

      and recommended MAME variants

...oh and there are sets with one rom / one game but come to that later - you will need to get your head around DAT files and filtering methods.

      @taccom

We don't support third party images here and we definitely don't condone distributing RetroPie with pirated material in any way. That kind of activity is illegal and threatens the very existence of this and similar projects. Accordingly, the @Wolfanoz account has been banned.

Any updates on how to do that?

Nope, since i didn't expect anything good from the capcom emulator (and i was right considering there was 4 frames of input lag at the release), i bought the game only because there was a limited edition with an artbook in my land, and it was console only. Since i don't have the steam version, i can't extract the rom, so i can't try to implement it in fba.

what's your 128GB Thumb Drive make and model?

I've heard of people having a lot of problems with 128GB thumb drives. I was very fortunate to find a reliable option on my second try. The one I use currently is a Samsung, model MUF-128BB/AM. It's going into its second year of use with no issues so far. My original SanDisk Ultra Fit SDCZ43-128G-GAM46 got so hot, I had to let it cool down before removing it and it even raised the reported operating temperature of my Pi considerably. It burnt out after about three months and I started going over user reviews with a fine-toothed comb before I found the Samsung. Of course there might even be a better option now. I haven't looked in a while.

Great idea and build. In addition, you could cover it with a one-sided mirror so it looks like a hall mirror when it's turned off. :)

That would look very nice, but I don't know if I can deal with all the glare it will produce.
