@twd said in PiZero compared to a Pi3:

      Did I say pifba plays cps3 ?

You said "Everything you stated works fine", and i stated cps3 wouldn't run fine. I can't guess you are using pifba if your first post is "misleading" (yes, i could have used another word...), things would have been different if you had said "i can't play cps3 but the others run fine on pifba". Of course you can run pifba fine on a rpi1@1Ghz, i never disagreed with that, it's an emulator especially written for rpi1, but that's a fork from 6 years ago (and heavily modified for rpi, mainly their m68k dynarec which won't work inside current fba codebase, that's why there have been no update for 6 years), which contains less than 1/20 of current fbalpha game library and lacks a lot of other features retroarch+fbalpha-libretro provide.

@GtBFilms Thanks for the info. I had a look at the ROM libraries I have for the emulator on my Mac and they don't even total 1GB, so that will give me plenty of room for other 'stuff'.

I've borrowed a keyboard from work so I have that and the memory card in my possession: the RPi was delivered today but whilst at work, so it's at our local depot.

Looking forward to getting my hands on it and getting started now: I have the Retropie installer downloaded and Retropie itself, my ROMS are all in situ and ready to go: so now it's just a case of build, install/setup and hopefully I'll be good to go!

I like the idea of having it connected to WiFi, I'm not going to install a tonne of ROMS, just my old faves and a few never-played titles, so being able to transfer one or two wirelessly now and again would be really handy. Plus it is 2016, so really WiFi setup should be a given!

Thanks for your help: no doubt I'll have more questions thrown up after installation, but fingers crossed it all goes ok!

@stingjay you clearly did not read the message that is on top of every single page of this forum:
Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

We have good docs here: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/

I am really amazed with how easily we can set a retrogaming machine on a cheap board and completely with a free software.

I just had that issue, too.
Changed controller interface from SDL to UDEV and it works as expected.

I'm really pretty embarrassed right now, but it was because I only had my wireless keyboard plugged in and not any gamepads. Hooked my snes controller in and it booted right up. Thanks for your help and I hope this will help others who have this problem.

You won't see the emulators until the roms are in their respective folders.
Once Retropie sees roms in the the folder, it adds the appropriate emulator to the menu.

      @HPK-de said in UAE/Amiga alternative?:

For me Dosbox is way easier, hardly any probem getting games up and running.

It's an amazing emulator for sure. One of the most impressive out there. You also raise a good point about the particular time frame in question as far as port quality is concerned.

Why is it not possible to get an emulator where you just have to throw a amiga-file at?

I've been using the same kickstart rom for years now and after it's set, I don't have any issues loading games myself. Loading the game's disk image and pressing reset is all that is needed most times. I do seem to remember that finding a kickstart rom that would perform well was a bit of a search though.

      I agree with @vikingrock .

Drastic is an amazing emulator and work 100% for all games I tested.

Only barrier for some games is the actual touch pad but many don't require one.

@wetriner said in Keyboard Emulation with Gamepad outside of emulators:

@TheLuthier There is definitely supposed to be joypad functionality in the retropie setup menus, and I believe it has been there for as long as I've been with RetroPie(something like 2.7 or so) It's just based on your joypad 0 button and DPAD. But it's set to work for typical setups.

UPDATE: Aahhha! You sir, are correct. I tested and indeed my joypad 0 works (R1 for my setup) and my analog stick is used for navigation (though it's a bit backwards with X axis being up and down). Essentially this solves my original question - Thanks!
