      @Tango Another thing you can do to cleanly shut down your system if it's too stuck to get back to the command line is SSH into your pi and run the command sudo shutdownThere are a lot of apps and programs for SSHing in. One example is JuiceSSH for Android. There are times it can be too frozen to even allow an SSH tunnel, but other times it's the only way to get a clean shut down. Just know that sudo shutdown "schedules" a shutdown a few minutes out, so if you use this method wait a few minutes to see the shut down actually commence.

      @Striderx99 hi bro. How did you go about adding WCW here comes the bang? The files I find are for project 64 with a full conversion kit but can't seem to find the basic rom. Any help or guide you can give me would be most helpful. Thanks

      @mitu said in scummvm: Extrapath por specific games in emulationstation:

      It's because the launcher specifically sets extrapath when launching the .svm entry. But ScummVM shoud search in the game folder for the files needed - have you tried copying the extra folder files in the game folder ?

      OMG, I dind't read it properly. Copied the files from that specific extra folder to the main game folder and... It works.

      So simple.

      THANK YOU A LOT.

      TOPIC SOLVED.

      I was referring to how to get to HDMI boost and TV mode

      HDMI boot configuration is not available for the Pi4, as for the mode selection, you can just use raspi-config and select 1080p as default video mode.

      Noticing the same thing myself. My guess is it's the images being loaded one by one but it does look ugly. Not sure if anyone else can confirm this or if a fix is possible.

      @mitu - I think the default power settings are working, as I just needed to wait a full minute like you said. After that, it goes back down to 1-3%. Good enough for me.

      Retropie version is 4.5.13, for reference. But again, looks like all is well. Thanks again guys.

      Input Overlays as I understand them are not ideal for this. I can see in the examples that static images are manipulated across the display, but they are still static images. Say I wanted to implement a timer that hangs out in the corner during gameplay - I would have to configure logic to swap out images for each digit of the timer every time increment. That's a bit much! I'm just looking for some way to add my own system text, similar to how the frame counter, fps, or memory utilization can be optionally displayed on the OSD.

      As for the latter point, it seems like reaching out to the memory domains is something you can do in libretro according to the API, but I'm not sure how to set up a script that would assess memory state as it is executed - is there any kind of next_frame event or otherwise that could be used to fire off a script to check? There are numerous layers in the system, each with their own sets of capabilities, scripts, and events, so I'm not sure which layer I want to be targeting to get this kind of functionality.

      @quicksilver

      I had an issue almost the same as this. I have a pi4b with a 7” touchscreen. When I plug it in to my tv it starts fine color burst and command line show fine on my tv and the 7” screen together, but as soon as emulation station starts the picture goes away and only the sound comes through the TV. If I go into command line or pixel desktop the picture comes back on the tv. After a couple weeks of frustration I figured out if I take the power off the touchscreen everything will work perfect on my tv.

      Is it possible to compile emulationstation without video preview feature, and thus without the need of VLC libraries ?

      No, you'll have to modify the sources to remove the VLC dependency. Or use the original project's sources from EmulationStation.org, which doesn't have the video feature included.

      That's ok mitu. I would be willing to run a .bat file in the background if need be. I tried doing it myself and I was successful getting music to load up before the main screen finishes loading up on EmulationStation, as well as when you exit out of a game and go back to the menu. The problem I'm having is getting just one splashscreen to randomly load up/play before the loading screen and stopping/closing the media player that displays it.

      The code for my splashtest.bat is the following:

      @ECHO OFF

      REM Your splashscreens file path:
      start "" --play and exit "C:\Program Files (x86)\VLC\vlc.exe" -L "C:\Users\Username\Music\Playlists\Splashscreens.wpl"

      REM Kill your media player:
      C:\Program Files (x86)\VLC\vlc.exe /F

      REM Run the frontend (EmulationStation example):
      start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\EmulationStation\emulationstation.exe"

      REM Run the media player (WMPlayer example):
      start "" "C:\Program Files (x86)\Windows Media Player\wmplayer.exe" -L "C:\Users\Username\Music\Playlists\EmulationStation.wpl"

      If anyone here has ideas on any mistakes you can see or a better way of executing this, please let me know. A big thank you goes out to those who can provide these answers :-D.

      No problem. I literally just figured it out. I just updated everything, used a different BGM script and in raspi-config, I disabled and enabled the text splash screen, followed by using a custom splashscreen using the OFFICIAL script off emulation station. The custom scripts are trash, absolute trash. I have to be careful.

      So I have a totally new issue now, non-image related.

      I used SD Card Formatter to format my Micro SD to exFat, Windows 10 recognizes it....I used Win32 Diskimager to write my image, and now Windows 10 won't recognize it. Any idea how to fix this? I must fix this because I have to create a backup, now that I fixed it. I'd appreciate the help. Thanks.

      I have solved the audio issue. I looked back at my es_systems.cfg file in my .emulationstation folder. I noticed that it points to the RetroArch executable in D:\ (my microSD card). I double clicked it and went to the Audio driver section/Output to make sure that audio was turned on. The Audio was also changed from xaudio to dsound. I also went to the Driver section to make that Audio was identified as dsound there as well.

      I found the solution by combing the files from HerbFargus' 1.8.1 build with the latest files from jrassa's build + including the latest version of Retroarch executables in the Retroarch system folder. The only issue I'm noticing is the space between some of the fonts is squeezed together or centered on my television screen. Thanks again for your input 😊.
