So I had some time to think about this while at work, and I think it might be easier to just use that NES to USB circuit (link). By using that circuit, I can combine both NES ports into a single USB plug. I saw some walkthrough examples where somebody had used that exact circuit in an NES, and the ports line up perfectly. I was also looking last night, and found a DB9 to USB adapter that might work well for Sega and Atari controllers. I've only heard of the Raphnet NES adapters from other builds, and don't know how well the Mayflash Adapter will work, and if it will work with ATARI as well.. I'd really like somebody to help me figure out if this is a good option, because I'd really like to have the option to install a way to use original controllers where possible.

Since I'm on the topic of controllers.. I have another major question. Does the system handle correctly the mappings for multiple controllers and types? So far, while waiting for all my hardware, I've been testing with just a Wireless Xbox 360 controller. I also have a Saitek P2500 controller that I was originally using before I got the Wireless Xbox 360 dongle. So does RetroPie/RetroArch still work if I have say.. 2 Xbox controllers? What if I have an Xbox Controller and the P2500? What if I don't have those, and just have 2 NES controllers? What if I'm really crazy and I'm using an NES controller and a Sega Master System controller (they're the same design more or less). Does the system handle multiple controllers, mix and match controllers, or even just 1 different controller per system? Since I'm still in the build phase, I don't have this issue NOW, but I'd like to know if this has come up and if there is a way through it.

Thanks guys! Also, I got my NES console in the mail today.. so I'm getting closer to build time!

Cheers guys, that did the trick :-)

I'd been looking at the frontend keyboard controls in mame.cfg before.

@BuZz said in Accidentally set select key to 'none' on Mame4pi, can't select anything in TAB menu?:

      I have moved it

What problem did you have ? Did you try going to the help / support section and click "New topic" at the top?

      Hi Buzz,

I clicked on 'new topic', put in a title and typed out my problem. Help/Support was selected in the drop down box to the right. When I clicked submit it said i needed to create a tag. No matter what tag I created I always got the message along the lines of 'tag does not exist' which also prevented me from submitting my post.

      @WillsNash
I couldn't get the Xbox One controller to work either but I do have 3 Xbox 360 controllers working.

You might have a look at this:
      https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/Setting-up-the-XBox360-controller

If you still need help, you might give us more details, be more specific and let us know the steps you've tried:

@r34per actually I lied to you sorta. I almost forgot that RetroPie isn't strictly for the raspberry pi. You can also install it on x86 (Ubuntu) which you can install on a virtual machine. There are just some slightly different packages due to the diff platforms.

@rolrod66 Glad to hear it. Share some thoughts. I would be interested to know if I everything worked straight out for you.
Did you get how the controller map images are supposed to be used?
If there is something unclear I can try to improve the text.

It would probably be better if you comment on the other post cause this one turned out pretty messy.
      Take care. :)

@suprjami Thank you, taking a picture would be most beneficial, so could you please label it with the measurements you mentioned above, as well as thickness of the cartridge, width of the cartridge slot, and the distance between the back of the cart and the cartridge slot. If you could also send me the distance between the bottom of the cart and the bottom of the label, that would be very helpful. Thank you very much for your assistance.

I went through this a week or so ago. I got to the part about the pin also and left it a zeros. It gave me some error but if you go back to the setup menu and tell it to connect it should connect when you scan and hit the 2 buttons on the wii controller. Here is my thread on getting mine to work.

If your aim here is to play these games with two controllers but still choose the player you want, try using the 2-player clones.

For example, tmnt2po lets each player choose which turtle they want to be.

@tebra said in Has anyone Gotten the Mayflash Gamecube Adapter to work with Retropie?:

      Is it possible by N: Name="Wii U GameCube Adapter Port 1" and N: Name="Wii U GameCube Adapter Port 2".

Sadly no. Those do not actually point to the events.

if I reboot the rpi3 without my keyboard the event number will change. I'm right?

I believe you're right. However, it might help to rearrange the order of your devices in relation to the USB slots to where the keyboard is always seen last.

So I was able to get my buddies RPi3 running RetroPie 4.0.2 this weekend, and after configuring one PS3 gamepad on the RPi, plugging in the second PS3 via USB worked flawlessly! All the issues I read about must have been regarding older distro versions of RetroPie. I was also able to get both gamepads working on the onboard Bluetooth of the RPi3! Thank you for the help @obsidianspider and @Lyle_JP!

Well, thanks anyway all, I've managed to get it working.

Word of warning btw if you ever try that ES "kiosk/kid mode" branch, when you uninstall it, it gets rid of the whole of emulation station :(

Still, looking forward to how that branch progresses.
