      @nevsan said in How do I find out and change the Retroarch Hotkeys for each system?:

      Hotkey for enabling RETROARCH when in a game.

      there is no such hotkey. there's only one hotkey - it's set during https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation#configure-controllers - it's the last one to be set. typically you'd set it to the 'select' button on your controller.

      then, you access various hotkey combos by holding your hotkey and pressing some other button. eg: https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/First-Installation#hotkeys

      if you configure it this way, the same combo will work in every libretro (lr-) emulator.

      @40wattrange

      Unfortunately, you can only remove it globally. It would work for what you want, but the rest of the hotkey combos would be affected. For example, pressing 'start' by itself would always exit a game.

      @scopaust As with other controller that don't have a hotkey, you can use Select instead of a hotkey.

      @matchaman if you use lr-nestopia you only use one button. L1. And you can map it to select. Select will still work the same. If you are in actual gameplay and you hit select it does not eject+ flip while you are in game. But if you say hit select once in gameplay when you get to the flip disk screen it will give you a disk side error. All you have to do is press the select button one time and it will correct itself. If in game you hit the select button an even number of times like 2x, 4x, etc... it wont give you the error. Not a big deal when you do get the error as you only flip a disk once or so while playing so you lose maybe a second of time. Again you need to switch to lr-nestopia as this does not work in lr-fceumm

      I had this issue in N64 and all it took was a reboot to fix it. If I can remember what the issue was I will post it to see if it's related or not.

      @oloff3 You could try something like:

      input_volume_up = +<button value> input_volume_down = -<button value>

      or another approach is described here https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/2377/control-volume-through-retroarch-with-keyboard/4, outside of RetroArch. The example in the topic is more for the keyboard use, but if you can make the events appear as keypresses, the principle is the same.

      @ben-almonte Update to retropie 4.3. Reconfigure your controller. The last button to configure is the hotkey, so you can assign that to something other than select.

      @simply-austin said in Exiting a Game from a Keyboard with no Escape Button....:

      I am starting to loose patience with both @psyke83 and @BuZz . I have been nothing but reasonable on here and yet even still each post is just another personal attack on both me and my reputation.

      I don't understand your reply, Austin. I have not attacked you - personally or otherwise - or impugned your reputation. In fact, I was not trying to make a value judgement on anybody's stance on the topic of piracy. However, when we are representing the RetroPie project, we have an obligation to distance ourselves from casual discussion of the topic like I see on many sites, YT channels, etc.

      All this over a simple request for help on a simple tech issue? Not once even a "sorry, slight over reaction there".... instead just an echo chamber of "you are damaging RetroPie and Emulation.".... "But dont take it personal", we dont mean any of these sly digs, things taken out of context to try and move away from the fact you was just asking for help. To map a ESCAPE button....? "again, its not personal, not sure why you would think that?"

      Come on man, the topic clearly veered off topic, after you resolved your original issue. The attention from moderators came because your post was flagged, and since you ignored @buzz's original request on your channel, he used this opportunity to talk to you about the promotion of compromised ROM-laden images.

      You can police and talk about anything you want, its most definitely your forum. But when you make things personal, use double standards with your own platform and idiolagies, try to use things as ammunition on YOUR public platform to justify your villainy of me and complete over reaction to this... I do take it very personal.

      You are free to continue using this forum as long as you don't break the rules. If you were to post a YT video that talked about third-party images with pirated ROMs, in the same way as the video cited earlier in this topic, we would have to take measures by at least removing the links. We were simply trying to open a dialogue with you on the potential problems. We were not making a judgement on your character.

      Would you like it if I did the same on my platform, treating you guys as exactly how you have treated me in public?

      Please try to read our dialogue with you charitably, just as we're trying with you. We never insulted you, and I'm sorry, but we did not make any kind of judgement on you personally, but only some of your past content. If we saw people attacking you on our forum, we would take action to prevent harassment.

      Maybe you should be aware that people who post to your Facebook page are making personal attacks on members of this forums, using slurs such "c*** wombles". Those kind of ad hominem attacks are not really helpful, wouldn't you agree?

      @dankcushions said in Better way to change hot key bindings for multiple systems?:

      @dinierto that's the correct solution, so i can only guess that there's something in a retroarch.cfg somewhere that's conflicting.

      That's my only guess too but I don't know enough about that specific issue

      And now I'm happy to tell you all, that it worked! Thanks for the author of that video as well, really helpful guide for all of us. And also thank for everyone helping over here, help, friendly opinions and good points is always needed. :)

      Interestingly, the controller won't work properly, until you press the Analog-button and lid up the red light, after you're started/rebooted the console. But that doesn't matter, as it kinda works like a On/Off switch for the controller.

      @SanyaIV said in Run custom action on custom hotkey?:

      What I want to do: ADD a hotkey that does a CUSTOM action.
      The hotkey: DualShock 4 contoller [Share] + [PS Button]
      The action: Run a script (The script will toggle vcgencmd display_power 0 and vcgencmd display_power 1)

      Hi Sanya,

      Maybe you could achieve what you want by using Triggerhappy with configurations like here?:

      Well, the main problem has been solved.

      User error was the problem, (as expected). The thing that broke the dam was figuring out that the input_..._btn entries were for the controls vs. input_...(no _btn) entries. When I looked closer, I figured out I didn't have a complete set of hotkey inputs for the keyboard or the controller in the .../all/retroarch.cfg file.

      So that is sorted. I still would like to know the answers to the other questions, but I can live with this.

      Thanks!
