Well, the OP should just move to MAME current tbh, not only it has support for TATE in both directions, but it probably also has better support for cocktail mode (i highly doubt all cocktail fixes from the past 22 years were backported to MAME2003+).

As for FBNeo, it is not suitable at all for cocktail setups : some games had their 2P mode and cocktail mode tied together, and ended up being un-cocktail-ified so that 2 players could play them without requiring a cocktail setup.

@fscii said in remove game launch screen with rom title + emulator retropie 4.8:

So the big question here is can I remap keys in retroarch for a given game? If I do, I can't do the save to core thing? Do I have to do it every time. I'm just trying to avoid this mess again.

Remaps should be fine to save from within RetroArch since they save to a different file than retroarch.cfg and so won't interfere with the RetroPie's custom configuration in that file.

@mitu thanks for the reply and great suggestions I hadn't considered!

As it turns out, I was mistaken. The pacman.zip file was not in my roms folder. I won't get into the details since this is a sensitive topic (regarding legal gray areas and fair use arguments) but suffice to say, way back ~20 years when I started this hobby, I had to hunt for the original zip file and I never included it in my archive of the internet archive 0.256 rom set.

Still don't understand why it's not part of the merged roms internet archive.

@mitu said in FYI: Retroachievements will improve more:

I expected 0.0 to make the game viewable area to be hugging the top size. I'm expecting the X/Y positions for the Custom AR to be anchored top left, so 0 vertical bias should fuse the image to the screen top.

That's exactly the issue I reported. Switch to Vulkan and it will appear as you'd expect. The Y position is only wrong when using gl or glcore.

Play with Bias Y and watch the viewable area in the background. You should see that one single frame where it appears where you'd expect before it pops into the incorrect position.

ADDING: I searched online for others having the problem. They are. Most are using GL and are advising others to set Bias Y to 1. This "looks" correct, but is a terrible workaround for a fairly obvious bug, especially for those who mix render modes.

@sith-lord-goz Rollback netplay, which is what is implemented in retroarch, relies on savestate determinism, like several other features (runahead, rewind, ...)

@mitu said in Retroarch audio DSP:

Indeed, RetroPie's RetroArch installation doesn't include any filters, audio or video.

Is it possible to support Retroarch DSP audio plugins in Retropie? Or is there something I could do to manually add the required audio libraries?

We could add it in a new RetroArch version, they occupy little space.

That would be great! Thanks for considering it.

I've have followed your instructions for manual compilation and they worked great! Chiptune enhance and lowpass filter really enhance old games soundtracks!

@dk23 not that I will know the answer, but I had this with PSP emulator, and N64 when setting up windowed mode in the txt files while exploring/experimenting the files and paths.

I would help anyone who knows more if you'd share which console(s) you emulate and with which core.

@mitu said in Why is Pulseaudio no longer an option in Settings > Audio > Output?:

Is there a way to get it back?

Modify the buld script and enable it if you wish.

I was able to update using the instructions you gave me (along with that other error I was having) and all seems to be working well now!

I have NO IDEA why lr-dolphin seems to be more stable using pulseaudio (any ideas?) but I feel I get emulator core crashes by far less often when using pulse than using any other sound driver.

@mitu said in Error running 'git pull --ff-only' - returned 1 Updating Retroarch:

You can actually see the error in the logs, you've modifed 2 shader files locally and they can't be updated:

... Already on 'rpi' .... Your branch is behind 'origin/rpi' by 3 commits, and can be fast-forwarded. (use "git pull" to update your local branch) error: Your local changes to the following files would be overwritten by merge: crt-yo6-KV-M1420B-fast.glslp shaders/barrel-distortion.glsl Please commit your changes or stash them before you merge. ...

Thank you for that! I never changed any of the shader files so I'm not sure how that happened and that's probably exactly why I missed it in the error log. But I appreciate you chasing that down and I'll go look for that and make the change right now!

Isn't it that you can enter the retroarch menu from within a game and set input to mirror analog stick from dpad?

      Hotkey + North (in game)

      Settings | gamepad | analog

Please correct the path, it's something like that

Please add some info about your setup, as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

Did you configure your gamepad in EmulationStation ? Usually this is all what's needed in order for the correct auto-configuration profile for RetroArch to be generated. Did you reset/changed your RetroArch configuration so that the configuration profile cannot be changed ?

There's no separate bsnes-mercury package in RetroPIe, just regular bsnes.
