@mena Please don't hijack the original post. But to answer your question, most likely it will also protect the USB devices connected to it from power surges. These USB ports are meant to power or charge devices only and does not have data communication capabilities. USB devices such as USB keyboard/mouse, USB game controllers, etc will require both power and data and therefore have to be connected to the RPI USB ports and draw power from it as well.

@jay81uk simonster is right about the power requirements of various RPi models. So what is yours?
The Kindle Fire power supply normally will provide 1A current which 150ma more than the one from chromecast.

      Used this way:

      sudo apt-get upgrade

      sudo apt-get install kodi

After that period no problems at all.

@Zigurana Well I was really thinking about the pi zero not necessarily the pi 3. Don't the USB controllers need to be encoded to whatever the console needs I figured since retropie was already emulating the console controls it might be easier to figure out a way to output that onto however many data pins they have in say a Dreamcast controller as opposed to designing your own custom program through arduino. I mean your going to have to emulate the controller by the console anyway. Does someone already have a project started for Arduino?

@simonster I had totally forgotten that I used a USB to transfer the last time and not the SD card. This should fix the problem. Thank you!

      Hi @cineraphael

I would suggest you start a support request by completing the information requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first as you will be requested for this information anyway.

If you are overclocking your Pi, you need to let us know what you are doing. Maybe start by uploading your /boot/config.txt to pastebin. Also, how are you cooling your Pi?

@edmaul69 said in Intellivision ECS.BIN confused on how to use it???:

me roms with a certain crc have been flagged to have their ecs and ivoice flags turned on. Doesnt work in one of the .rom version of wsmlb i have. Works in the other though. Not all games have it. You still want to set up options. You want to set ivoice on at least. (-v). This makes sure every single game no matter what, if it has voice it will automatically work. There are several homebrews and prototypes out that wont be flagged. And space patrol needs to have the ecs enabled if you want to hear the extra sound channels.

Cool, thanks for the explaination about certain games. I was merely curious.

@davidstone83 If you are using lr-mame2003 and you have configured your keyboard and controller correctly in emulation station then select should be coin and start should be start. These are the default buttons for RetroArch emulators. It sounds to me like you have borked something or you are using a third party image.
