OK, I reset the default.cfg in mame2003 -folder, now the TAB is working and I can change the

I change the sensitivity in the menu,
seems for Centipede it's not going "faster",
because in Marble Madness or Missile Command the control is running faster after the changes !

      Thx!

@RonsterMonster There is no official image. At the moment, you can clone the repo, but it's different from what ETA Prime did.

Install raspbian lite. Install Git. Then type: git clone --branch fkms_rpi4 --depth=1 https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup.git
Enable the GL (Fake KMS) driver in raspi-config

If you're not familiar with a manual install, go here: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Manual-Installation

I'd really hope for test images soon. Basically all the libretro emulators work. The rest are hit or miss.

I had the same problem as you, to fix it I disabled the Dynamic recompiler in the quick menu settings.

It stopped the "micro stuttering" I was getting seems the PI4 can run the interpreter pretty well.

I found a script to cleanup gamelist.xml files in emulationstation. I think I'll give it a go.

      Thanks for your help!

@mitu it works! Wooohoo! You’re the best. Thank you so much.

Actually that GPU can handle that. I think the issue is the frequency. My desktop defaults to 30hz initially on my 4k TV which makes everything look like its running like garbage when internally it is not.
You might get a clearer picture by putting it back into 3840x2160 then setting the refresh rate to 60hz where it should be normal. Should be...

Alright i know the issue is the refresh rate:
[INFO] [Video]: Average monitor Hz: 30.000300 Hz. (0.834 % frame time deviation, based on 2048 last samples).

I wonder how quickness determines the region - there's nothing in the Core Options (like Nestopia or Fceumm) which can select the Region. How is the ROM file named ?

@chubsta It's definitely the images causing an issue, especially if you have a lot of games. All of my Pi Zeros have this issue and I no longer use the videos. If you try another theme or change the UI theme settings to BASIC (I believe) you should see it become very responsive. The Zero is a minimalist board when it comes to resources but it functions extremely well for all of the systems I run on it.

@mitu said in All ROMs running in slow-mo:

Sounds like a slow video driver problem. Are you using the default driver (amdgpu) or the AMD (fglrx) driver ?

I've tried to install the AMD driver but it gives me the following error:

One or more tools required for installation cannot be found on the system. Install the required tools before installing the fglrx driver. Optionially, run the installer with --force option to install without the tools. Forcing install will disable AMD hardware acceleration and may make your system unstable. Not recommended. See /usr/shar/ati/fglrx-install.log for more details.

      Here's the log:

Check if system has the tools required for installation. fglrx installation requires that the system have kernel headers. /lib/modules/4.13.0-32-generic/build/include/linux/version.h cannot be found on this system. One or more tools required for installation cannot be found on the system. Install the required tools before installing the fglrx driver. Optionally, run the installer with --force option to install without the tools. Forcing install will disable AMD hardware acceleration and may make your system unstable. Not recommended.

Is it a known issue ?

      Not really

Is there any solution appart from reinstalling ? (a file to delete or modify ?)

Why would you reinstall ? Don't you want to try and fix the problem ?
Do you have a lot of artwork for the Arcade ROMs ? Are you running the ROMs from a network share or USB drive ?

@AndersHP Yeah, since ES loads the artwork on the fly, the access speed is relevant for the user experience. Apart from slow USB drives, network drives are another bottleneck that can be avoided by putting the artwork on the internal SD.

Ok. Can I check the card's read speed with win32 disk imager ? Didn't know that. Will try.

Anyways I wrote the default retropie 4.3 image on it, using the method I use everytime, so that's why I think about the card.

The network transfers on it seemed slow to me, too.

@jenslyn87 I'm probably the wrong person to ask about it as I'm a bit out of the dev loop with ES but possible it's caching them while you scroll for the first time so it doesn't have as much to reload when you continue scrolling but that's just a guess. I've just always kept my lists small cause full sets just get overwhelming to me.

@simonster I can try that, I'm tempted to just rebuild my retropie system and see if that fixes the problem since I've already sunk hours into troubleshooting this and could have rebuilt/restored everything in 1/10 the time :)

I would think if anything retropie running on OSMC would be slower since OSMC is still running in the background and using up CPU/Memory.
