    @backstander
It's the layout of most PS3/4 fighting stick (including Hori).
But Retroarch has a native option to switch to

    Y X R1 R2 B A L1 L2

Very useful for street fighter like controls :)

I agree they are missing some classics. For 20 or so older legacy games it seems to expensive. I already have all the exact games running on the Pi but for the people that don't like messing with this type of stuff it's a good deal I suppose. A lot of people play around with my Pi setup, love it and ask about how it works but where the rubber meets the road they don't have the time, patience or know-how to build one and just prefer the plug-n-play. I see the NES classic edition is going for around $250 US on eBay nowadays, sad but true! :)

@cyperghost said in RetroFE on RetroPie:

@pjft Haha ... Well my next was intended to have the same saying.

You all know it, success of a software depends strongly on the acceptance of the users. I'm not sure whose development staff got more members ... maybe ES maybe RetroFE. But up to now the system ES is much better accepted by the users. Time will show ... @phulshof please feel encouraged to try a port and if you let users get the option to install and try out your creation via RetroPie-Update-Scripts then I think the chances are good for a growing community. I think if you find a way to convince our theme creators then the chances for acceptance are multiplied :)

I have no intention of "convincing" anyone. :) I too enjoy choice, and I've always been active to make material as widely usable as possible. That's one of the reasons I maintain the MAME meta XML files for HyperSpin, even though RetroFE doesn't use them, and even though I've never used HyperSpin myself.

RetroFE is a front-end for people who enjoy the "pretty" graphics of front-ends like HyperSpin. It caters to people who often use full rom sets, and who like to combine special collections, like e.g. all Gradius games from different systems. That also implies that it's generally heavier on the resources than e.g. EmulationStation; I wouldn't recommend running RetroFE with heavy video usage on something slower than a pi3. I'm sure there are RetroFE themes that will make even the pi3 cry. :) Some themes even require many MBs of art to be loaded for each game, making the use of an SDD very tempting; the external HDD I use on my Linux PC is already quite slow for some themes.

There's something for everyone here; I'm just hoping to provide a bit more choice by porting a front-end already available on Windows, MacOS and Linux to RetroPie. Whether other people will use it is up to them. :)

@SutterKane Hotline Miami is boss. The gerne Outrun is personally my favorite in Synthwave, which is why I've created lotsa songs similar to the Hotline Miami Soundtrack.

I play almost everything on FBAlpha with only a couple games on Mame2003. I am using a standard RPi3.

@joeyperoni I use the GPIO method to control my build. Uses the Adafruit utility to mimic keyboard strokes, works well though did take a bit of setting up. Price is right of course. This is what i used as a guide. https://learn.adafruit.com/retro-gaming-with-raspberry-pi/overview
Im system is 2 player (6 buttons each), 2 start buttons, 2 coin buttons and an exit button.

Ha! very nice. That has to be where I got the "wet moose" thing. When I was a kid I used to love that show. Needless to say, I was shocked to find out that 'Ghost Dad' and 'Leonard Part 6' weren't the worst things he ever did.

@BuZz thanks. I know it's impossible, and would be crazy, to update all links in old posts ;-)
Just wanted to make sure that such an important link would be accessible thru this thread as people are still replying.

Very sad. He always seemed like the nicest guy. I remember being amazed that the Intellivision brand had such a huge presence in 'Grandma's Boy'. I don't think it had ever been featured so prominently in TV or film before, or since.

@lilbud I had that issue too, but after copying the whole retroarch folder from the archive to the root of the SD card, they seemed to work fine. Apparently the CIAs aren't totally self contained. The actual "RetroArch" app crashes every time for me, but each individual emulator works great.

@Darksavior It's probably due to your heatsink why mine heats up more (planning on building a custom cooper heatsink + alluminum fins). Normally my pi stays under 65 on any system, but with shaders hits in the 80's which i don't like.

This shader was also just for fun and to give it some sort of dimension, not really suppose to do anything else .As for The reason why the shader was never ported as a sort of overlay is probably due to it being sort of difficult.

resolution-wise, you mean? I've tried lowering it to the minimum in the game's options, but it did no good, just a slight improvement in frame rate, but not by much
