I've owned The Raspberry Pi 3 B+ for a while and the Raspberry pi 4 4gb that I own right now is the one I prefer. If you do go with the RPI4 i do recommend you get heatsinks and a case with a small fan. If you are just doing non demanding emualtors then the RPI 3B should be fine. But with N64 I recommend the RPI4.

I do more PS1 and Dreamcast on my RPI4B and they run great. If you need tutorials check this channel out.

@emulatre71 @windg thanks for chiming in, yeah I actually do already have the F310 and am a fan for the most part (I did find the fact that you couldn't seem to program the Mode button on Retropie a bit disappointing, but that was before I knew that the Logitech logo was itself another button).

That F710 is a bit more expensive but I may look into that if I want a PS2-style wireless controller. Bluetooth would be ideal, but if indeed the Pi has issues with bluetooth devices I may just have to either get a USB hub (although I've heard that there can be issues powering them/that one might need to get one w/ an external power source, which could be kinda a hassle) and plug the 4th controller's dongle into that, or simply have to unplug the keyboard if we're playing a 4-player+ game.

@stevejp1978 Had to create an account just to say what a great idea that was. I just did the exact same thing. It was driving me nuts that the folders wouldnt get metadata. Especially when the folder contains 19 files that all have the same metadata

@chaalsbawkley Are you trying to save everything or just your ROMs? Im used to Lakka OS but I do keep a copy of my settings and files so I can transfer them easily. Especially thumbnails, they take forever to download if you have a a bunch of roms and systems.

Maybe not all of your configs will be transfer neatly.

@tripleb84 I’m assuming that the wrong rom is being used. If the game is modded with an ips file, the srm may be for the base game. Or even a version difference or region difference. Many reasons why an srm file may nor be working.

@fulviolcabrera Open the Retroarch menu and select Options. Make sure Screen Orientation is set to Horizontal.

You need something like a Mausberry power circuit, that Youtube video is only sending the pie to sleep it's not shutting it down properly / safely like you're wanting. I use the Mausberry and my machine no longer randomly turns on and everything powered by the pie turns off with it. That's why all those videos of people doing the mods with LED buttons have to unplug the machine from the wall to get them to turn off unless they add another switch to turn them off.

@mitu I was just messing around with all of this. I don't have a RP4 yet, but plan to get one. I just wanted to get familiar with the different gaming-centric OSes before I got mine. I'm running this on a laptop that's running Windows 10. I need the ability to have Windows 10 running while I play around with this RP and emu stuff for the time-being. Using VirtualBox gives me that ability. I checked the '3D Acceleration' checkbox and now RetroPie runs. However it's really slow and beyond the configuration menu, I don't see anything else. I've got a VM that only loads an SD card (no 'host' VM OS) of another gaming front-end and the speed of it is great. I'm guessing the slowness has to do with running a system in a system in a VM (or something like that). That's cool. I just wanted to see it.

you'll note both point to the core options doc which show where the per-rom core options files are stored. it is not the same file as retroarch configs/overrides.

Maybe the particular ROM became corrupted.
Maybe that particular ROM isn't correct for the core, but was "close enough" (not really a thing) for a slightly different core? (e.g. MAME2003, MAME2003plus, MAME2010, etc.) There could be a variety of reasons. I agree, specific logs are the best "next step".
