I paired the controller in windows and copied the link key to my raspberry pi as one of the users on github mentioned. Now the pairing works and I can use the controller. Now the Xbox-Button doesn't work as hotkey for both controllers anymore. But this might be an issue because of updating the whole system.

We don't support systems sold with RetroPie/EmulationStation & roms. You can install RetroPie on Odroid XU4 as indicated here, this will get you the most recent version of RetroPie.

Can you post a verbose log from running the emulator (on pastebin.com) ?

@androidonpi The errors appears because you're running RetroPie from the desktop environment. As @dankcushions mentioned, this is not a supported configuration. On the Pi4, drastic will run by starting an X server first (as a few other ports already do), if you're already running in a desktop environment, that won't work.

For what it's worth, I was able to fix the issue. Pretty basic fix: uninstalled the lr-rpboom package from the retroarch config menu, restarted the system and then reinstalled it. Poof! Everything works fine now. Not sure how or why, but I'll take it. B-)

Hey it WORKED!

So on boot, Kodi launches. On first Kodi exit, the script will launch ES. From then on, ES does what it does when launching Kodi and returning to itself on exit.

Not just you. Tested it out myself and the shadows are broken and performance is worse for me as well. Reverted back to a several months old version I had saved locally and it works fine.

@jet how are you configuring your wifi? are you using wpa_supplicant.conf? if so please show the contents (censoring password etc)

@ebridge I'm building a Picade mini cabinet and can offer some general advice for others landing here from Google.

On first boot, your system probably doesn't see your stick or buttons. So on the 'No Gamepads detected' screen, hit F4 to exit. Then run

sudo raspi-config

to set up your wifi. Then do whatever additional setup steps are needed to get your controllers recognized (in the Picade, you run a curl command to download drivers).

Video smoothing often makes the picture way too mushy for my taste, especially if the original resolution is very low. I prefer good crt shaders like the zfast shaders from @ghogan42.

As for other video settings, I prefer the "core provided" aspect ratio, because I don't like, say, a 4:3 picture stretched to today's common 16:9, or the 3:4 ratio of many classic vertical games stretched to the native 4:3 on my DIY cabinet, making all game characters appear a little overweight to outright obese.

@philbobaggins If you scraped your roms with Skyscraper, it could've been an issue with daphne that has been fixed 12 days ago.

But then again, a simple update wouldn't have fixed this problem without rebuilding the gamelist.xml with Skyscraper after the update.
