    @mitu said in How to update Kodi 18.2 to 18.5?:

    Kodi is installed from the version available in the Pipplware repositories, which usually is the latest version. However, if you're running a Raspbian Stretch image (like the latest RetroPie 4.5 release), the latest version available for this version of Raspbian is 18.2, so installing 18.5 via RetroPie is not possible.
    You'll have to wait for a Raspbian Buster based image/release in order to be able to install 18.5.

    @devsfan1830 And the changes between 18.5 and 18.2 are minimal, it's a minor version update only. Just ignore the warning, it appears only once when there is a new version.

    PS: I still use Raspbian Stretch + RetroPie latest stable version + Kodi 18.2 on my main Raspberries and Kodi works fine for what I use.

    Thanks for clarifying that. I know the bug fixes were minor but I was not aware of how the Kodi versions were handled on Retropie and it was driving me nuts! I shall eagerly await Buster.

    @WeirdH
    Noticing the same thing myself. My guess is it's the images being loaded one by one but it does look ugly. Not sure if anyone else can confirm this or if a fix is possible.

    @KoCinsKy

    I don't use bezel project but in my case they were configured to the same emulator, genesis-gx to run master system, genesis and sega cd. I configured it to genesis since there is over 600 games and manually set the other two's each game through retroarch's overlay. Then saved each game's override.

    @PanzerDude92 No, it's using the ScreenScraper site for scraping.
    I'm not sure if scraping from TheGamesDB has been fixed in the stable release, the development branch for sure has a fix for the TGDB scraper. What version of EmulationStation are you using ?

    @Thorr69 Hi, thanks for the suggestion - but would that not also hide it for all my 'systems', not just the Retropie menu?

    @snock I had a similar issue. It was fixed but you have to update the retropie-setup script before building pcsx from source.

    @sirhenrythe5th yeah just bear in mind if you're going the CD32 route, that you'll need a lot more storage as they were stored on CD. The games will go from being a few meg in size, to a few hundred meg per game. Not all games were released on CD32 (about 175 in total i believe), but you have that guarantee that you have a console compatible system doing it that way, and you're gonna have more buttons than a zipstick say.

    @mitu said in Running EmulationStation through SSH:

    It's not possible, since EmulationStation (on a Pi) doesn't use the X.org libraries and it's not an X11 application.

    Well, I guess that's one thing I can mark off my "To do" list!

    Thanks.

    You can use the "collections" functionality to have all the Pokemon games on a single list. When a game is selected, it will launch the game with the emulator required for the rom. I recommend checking the documentation ( https://retropie.org.uk/docs/ ), so you can setup the games with the best emulators. Once that's done, check this guide (look up collections) : https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/EmulationStation

    @Morotezuki - I would definitely check your local laws especially for something worthwhile as non-profit that helps other people. I've seen it more than once where you can legally rent arcade machines for non-profit use in the US. The key being a rental or even donations for non-profits/charities.

    After working with local law enforcement for 20+ years they would be hard pressed to turn something like that over to the State's Attorney or Attorney General for prosecution let alone those offices wanting to take the man hours and resources away from serious felony crimes. I've watched street cops make decisions off intent (was it good or bad) and they chose not to cite any type of citation, ticket or arrest due to that intent. When there's no unlawful intent they will usually leave it to the parties to find a resolution. Intent makes all the difference in deciding how to proceed.

    You can actually sue someone throwing paper on your lawn (or anything for that matter) but it introduces two challenges. Finding a lawyer to take your case would be near impossible (try calling a few and explain a weird situation, they'll have you off the phone before you can say prosecute) let alone a judge to rule in favor of a crime that opens the judicial system to abuse and tying up courts for petty crimes.

    It's like staying off the FBI's top 50 list of crimes. If you do it's more than likely you'll never see them knocking on your door, literally true. Should we go after the Pac-Man player trying to feed the homeless or a "new" serial killer or drug dealer dropping 5 keys of coke on the streets weekly. No contest.

    I imagine most of the members on the forums use ROMs illegally but the laws don't deter us old gamers much from doing what we love and I don't imagine they care that much.

    Anyway I would check your laws as there's usually a legal workaround especially when folks are trying to help law enforcement, juveniles or feeding the homeless, hungry, etc. They aren't there to strictly enforce the law to the letter or make a community miserable when it comes to doing good. Basically doing good for a community at large is a healthy great idea. I wouldn't give up trying to do good things! :)

    @barbudreadmon I don't have an issue with flycast. I was testing an issue for another forum member, so I wanted to downgrade to their version. But yes, I will certainly report any defects I come across.

    Also, what's Ether? Never heard of it. I used Win32DiskImager only because Etcher doesn't work on Windows Vista. I hate Win32. I need some sort of easy alternative like Etcher.

    @mitu: I suspect that you're right, it's some kind of bot filtering, but I'd go a bit father. My browser was left open for a few days, so I don't think it's just when you open the tabs. Since some pages, especially forum pages, phone home to check on updates, I think the site is aware of the multiple connections.

    Thanks!
