I agree, it sounds like it's just the RetroArch emulators without sound. I also think it might be a setting in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

RetroPie comes with a backup of their custom all retroarch.cfg with default settings. It is located here:
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg.rp-dist

You could test with default settings by backing up your original retroarch.cfg and then copy retroarch.cfg.rp-dist to retroarch.cfg.

Nope did it myself. Bought a Pi3 for a present, fixed it all up, and I just want to be able to copy that image to my old Pi2. Thanks for the info, I will try updating after I've written the image.

One more thing, if you sent up a Manual overclock on the Pi3, you'll want to probably edit the bood config.txt or it might cause issues on the Pi2 as it can't run at those speeds.

Again, I haven't do it that way, but I dod go from a Pi2 to a Pi3 and it kept my "screaming" 1000 Mhz overclock on the Pi3 until I manually edited the boot config.

Following up on my own thread.

After my great experience with four controllers, two wireless and two wired, I decided to bite the bullet and order two more NES30's. Works great so far. Granted I've only played Super Bomberman 3 with four controllers, but I haven't seen any anomalies.

@noon That would probably require ES to be modified to either catch a SIGTERM signal and perform its normal shutdown procedures, or could have it check for the existence of a trigger file to shut down. Either of which are not very difficult to implement.

Perhaps you can post this suggestion in the Ideas and Development section of the forum.

@Septcanmat glad you got it sorted. there are two versions of Raspbian, one with the desktop environment, the other without(Raspbian lite) obviously the RetroPie sd image is built on Raspbian lite.

So I have similar specs, and have been following this site https://howchoo.com/g/mti0oge5nzk/pi-cart-a-raspberry-pi-retro-gaming-rig-in-an-nes-cartridge and was directed to come here when they couldn't figure out the same issue @skrapps914 is having.

Plug in all USB devices first, then power, USB Hub light comes on, which also had worked when on desktop. Decided to directly connect keyboard and/or gamepad without HUB so was directly to the USB to mini USB to Pi 0. Still nothing showing in Emulation Station. Had to directly disconnect the power and reconnect and start over, still no dice. Went from a 2.0 Amp to a 2.5 Amp, no difference.

I suspect you are running the rpi2/3 image on a rpi0/1

Hi guys, I just figure out what was wrong. I noticed that the zero delay joystick directionals should be connected in a specific order in the board: UP | DOWN | RIGHT | LEFT and I connected something like UP | RIGHT | LEFT | DOWN.

I thought the position wouldn't matter because I could set them in the retropie. Probably the board can't handle UP+DOWN and LEFT+RIGHT simultaneously, what makes sense, but when I connected in the wrong positions it wasn't handling UP+RIGHT and DOWN+LEFT simultaneously.

Anyway, my problem is solved now,

@herb_fargus I forgot about that herb. Think I set my Zero up before this was implemented.

Got it figured out! Thanks for trying to help. Instead of 6 buttons I had it on 3 buttons.

@edmaul69 I'll check it out tonight when I get home from work and thanks for all the help I've played with linux before but this is my first pi.
