    I just discover how to do it now, my bad.
    https://github.com/JungleJim42/es-theme-collections
    this provides some help.
    Basically i was putting the folder in themes with the same name as the .cfg (ex: custom-test).

    To make this work the Collection .cfg in .emulationstation\collections should be custom-NAME

    and

    The Theme .emulationstation\themes (create the folder if u didnt have one) copy existing theme that u want to customize from Theme folder in /etc/emulationstation/themes to the new folder that u just created, then the new folder should have the name of the collection "NAME" and not the full .cfg name "custom-NAME".

    U can copy the .xml from other collection then just tweak it, it is actually super ez.

    Edit: for Automatic collections just do the same process but the names for the folders are "auto-lastplayed", "auto-favorites" and "auto-allgames".

    @UberLumby You can follow the instructions here.

    Thank you
    "Create a symbolic link to the RetroArch core you want to use for netplay in the directory where the core info file was stored, for example
    ln -s /opt/retropie/libretrocores/lr-fceumm/fceumm_libretro.so $HOME/.config/retroarch/cores"
    This confused me a bit but I think I understand this creates a link to the existing .So I was copying and pasting them into the retroarch cores folder last night lol ops...

    No, it's not specific to the RetroArch version, overrides don't save the hotkey configuration, it's saved only when saving the whole configuration.
    You can try to add an extra configuration line in /opt/retropie/configs/gba/retroarch.cfg with

    input_toggle_fast_forward_btn=X

    where X is the button input code for L2 - you can find it from your gamepad autoconfiguration file in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/<gamepad.cfg>.

    Please add some info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

    What format are your videos and how did you get them (scraper/download/other) ? EmulationStation doesn't automatically detect videos/images if copy them next to your ROMs, the videos need to be associated to the ROMs/games in the system's gamelist file. Usually a scraper does that automatically, but if you copied them manually and expect to show up in EmulationStation, that won't work.

    RetroPie updates have nothing to do with the audio - it's the OS updates (kernel/firmware) that can affect it. Of course, using an experimental/beta driver might not be the most stable configuration at this time, so you might encounter issues with it from kernel/firmware version to another.

    @mitu I see what I did. I got it to work. Thanks for the help. Would you have any idea why my video snaps for game previews are working in Attract mode but not emulation station? I would love to use this BTTF theme all the time but trying to find a game to play without preview is challenging.
    Again, thanks for your help

    We don't support 3rd party images, especially the ones loaded with ROMs - as are the ones that you're trying to choose from. Use the image from retropie.org.uk/download and follow the installation instructions from the Docs.

    If you're hard pressed on time, I recommend you get your brother friend a ready made console, like one of the mini consoles released by Sega/Sony/Nintendo, which come already installed and with the games included.

    @dankcushions thanks mate - i did see the comment on the verbose logs.
    In learning about how to trigger them and retrieve them, I went into the RetroPie configuration editor and then notice there was an Aspec ratio setting. I set this to 4:3 and everything is perfect now.

    Glad Im solved it and thanks for your time.

    Excellent forum by the way

    So you were right I only need the rotation part and then needed to set the aspec ratio.
    video_allow_rotate = true
    video_rotation = 3

    This was the magic line:-
    aspect_ratio_index = "0"

    Reset your controller configuration and re-configure it again in EmulationStation.

    So should i now create a new folder named psp ?

    No, if the folder doesn't exist, it means that you didn't install a PSP emulator - use the RetroPie Setup entry in EmulationStation to install the ppsspp emulator and the folder should appear automatically.

    Take a look at the PSP emulator page to see what are the supported game extensions and what emulators are available.

    @mitu said in Where's the FPS option?:

    I think it's been moved - in version 1.9.0 - somewhere under Settings -> User Interface -> Appearance ? I usually just add fps_show = true in the global retroarch.cfg file to have it present.

    I found a hotkey bind for it actually thanks for both tips also!

    We don't support pirating add-ones and one of the rules of the forum is to not post links to copyrighted ROM/game sites.

    @Marco-G gpu_mem=320 is pretty much essential if you want to play high bitrate 4k hevc. You don't need as much if you don't play this kind of media.
    About hdmi_ignore_cec_init=1, what it does is to not switch (the TV) to the Raspberry Pi/Retropie source when it is started or rebooted. It has no effect in anything else.

    Source is updated. If you update RetroPie-Setup script and then install vice from source the fastsid backend should be available again.

    Cheers mate!
    Took me a while to figure out how to enable wifi first on my Zarcade. And I had to buy a keyboard first of course. Today I was able to update the Vice package. Found the FastSid setting (6581).

    @CrossCheck The advXYZ set of utilities (including the emulator) are installed in /opt/retropie/emulators/advmame/bin - see Advmame. You'll have to run them from a command line, outside of EmulationStation.

    @Botspot said in What APT packages are installed when I run the installer?:

    Is there a centralized place I can look to get this installed package list?

    No, there isn't a central list of packages. As I said in the Github issue you opened, each package that is part of RetroPie has it's own list of dependencies, which is automatically installed when that particular package is installed. The dependencies are declared in the module's depends function. Since the user can install or remove any package, the list of dependencies can change.

    A base installation will install the 'core' and 'main' packages, you can see here, you could get the list of dependencies for the packages in those 2 sections and consider them a minimum list of dependencies. Some of them might already be installed on the system, so when removing RetroPie you might take that into account.

    EDIT: the initial dependencies for the RetroPie-Setup script to work are listed in the Manual installation page.
