@Dinierto Did you get an answer on this? I have the same problem.

I can't even get sound/cdtracks to get picked up by Darkplaces. Which folder did you put that within - mine is sitting in /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/quake/id1/sound/cdtracks - but I've tried /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/quake/id1/id1/sound/cdtracks and /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/quake/sound/cdtracks also

Did you have to do anything else for that to work?

Edit: I've got this working now, I have .ogg files and .MP3 files in home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/quake/id1/sound/cdtracks and they are picked up in Darkplaces.

I've also got lr-tyrquake working, the same files in home/pi/RetroPie/roms/ports/quake/id1/music

I don't know if the original .ogg files I had were bad, or if having the .MP3s in there makes a difference, but it is working whatever the problem was.

What are the steps to set the 'Parse Metadata only' in EmulationStation to 'off' on my pie4.

Press Start on your controller and choose Other Settings. There you are.

What model of SNES USB controller ?
If you use jstest to test your controller, are the D-Pad left/right inputs recognized separately, or they overlap other buttons ?

You can re-configure the autostart options from the RetroPie-Setup - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#how-do-i-boot-to-the-desktop-or-kodi.

@DavidDraper the setting you're looking for is aspect ratio, and you want it set to the default of 'core provided'. it's in the video settings.

however, i would caution against setting things via retroarch unless you know exactly what you're doing.

Ah, got it. I thought my method might be out of date but I'm new to digging this deep, and it's a frustrating but fun learning process. Thank you a ton for the help, I'll check that out once I get the chance today.

Any idea why the cfg file is being ignored?

If you're running a custom image, then we don't know how it was modified or configured from a stock RetroPie image.

@atablettal said in how to scrape my games in 2020:

Hi I'm using the built in scarper and it's connected to the internet

    It's scraper, not scarper.
You haven't added any info about your system - older version of EmulationStation might have problem scraping because the source of the scraping (online sites) have changes the way they work. With any recent version of EmulationStation, that would not be a problem.

The naming depends on the device-tree settings, doesn't affect the actual capability of the GPU. Running the same command on a recent Raspbian OS yields

    Graphics: Device-1: bcm2711-vc5 driver: vc4_drm v: N/A bus ID: N/A chip ID: brcm:gpu

RetroPie doesn't support Manjaro OS on the Pi, btw.

@w0nderw0rm You can map the dpad to the left joystick in retroarch options. Also if you use LR-MAME2003, there is an option in that emulator to map the face buttons to the right joystick for games like Smash TV and Total carnage. I think it's on by defualt.

@mitu Just did final test. It all worked out perfectly. Cache has been moved to the external drive using the path to retropie-mount. The only thing that was weird was after nano-ing into the config.ini, I got the same error message, even after the MicroSD was cleared of the cache. It was just a black screen with the error message at the bottom. However, after hitting ctrl + r to give a command to read a file, I just typed in config.ini into the prompt, and then the file decided to open and let me edit it. Aside from small bump, everything worked out perfectly.
