@Newellj79 paste here the output of this command: ls /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads

Format your posts! - put small logs in code blocks - see http://commonmark.org/help/ - and put large logs on a pastebin type site like http://paste.ubuntu.com/ http://pastebin.com/ or similar.

So technically the above worked – I CAN use the Edimax EW-7611ULB combo bluetooth/wifi dongle after following the directions in that link I posted..

    ...but weird stuff is happening:

1.) The keyboard (Rii mini, 2.4ghz dongle variety) is now ALWAYS player one. I mean ALWAYS. I unplug the keyboard, hit "A" on a hard-wired controller to start a game, and the keyboard is somehow still player 1 and I have to plug the keyboard back in in order to hit "Select + Start" to exit out of a game. Never had that happen before. Furthermore, my bluetooth controllers ALWAYS took priority (i.e. Player 1, then Player 2, etc) over hard-wired controllers no matter what port they were plugged into (don't play mutiplayer that often but I'm pretty sure that's how it always worked).

2.) WiFi doesn't auto connect. When I go into WiFi setup it even gives me an IP address ending in 140 which totally looks like it's connected if it has an IP address...but it's not really connected (can't SSH or FTP in for example). When I click on connect to a wireless network, re-enter my same password, it then connects, but the IP address changes to end in 12 (which has also never happened since my router I believe always saves the same IP address for a specific dongle...which is how my FTP bookmarks never fail to work).

3.) Since something is screwy, when I unplug the combo dongle, and (reboot) then plug back in the regular bluetooth dongle (which ALWAYS worked before - no special compiling of drivers needed) -- for the life of me I can't get my 8BitDo wireless controller to connect now (tried 2 different bluetooth controllers).

@BuZz I think I may have figured out what was giving me problems. I had the bluetooth settings such that the 8bitdo was being turned on everytime I turned on the Pi. I was trying to play with the two usb controllers not realizing that the 8bitdo was on and serving as the 1P controller. If I restart retropie keeping the 8bitdo turned off I can use the two usb controllers for 2 player games. Please forgive me for wasting your time. I appreciate that you were willing to help.

Unfortunately, it isn't that simple. If you want to play these games, you'll need to look into a Windows or Mac-based setup with a PC gaming gun solution from either Ultimarc, ArcadeGuns.com or Mayflash.

@rbaker and @rsimmy ...both methods worked! thanks guys!

So for anybody else who looks at this:

rsimmy's saving to core overrides seems to work for each while @rbaker method works for all...however you can take that script and use it for each core individually if you want to script it in to each one with whatever core you want, which of course takes time. but if you're going to do that, then just do rsimmy's method

    so rbaker method for global
and rsimmy method for each one

and either method sticks after reboot

I assume you mean the N64 version and it runs pretty will on my Pi 3 without any overclocking using the mupen64plus-GLideN64 emulator. I haven't tried it on any of the other emulators.

Here is the N64 Compatibility Sheet:

@Paholainen said in Neo Geo black screen:

I don´t get the runcommand box on launching a game

    https://github.com/retropie/retropie-setup/wiki/runcommand

A black screen means that you do not have the correct romset for your emulator of choice. If you do not pair the emulator with the romset, the roms will not launch. If you are saying you have the correct romset and the correct emulator but still get the black screen, you do not actually have the correct romset and emulator.

So I suppose it is the default emu whatever that might be

This is the statement that leads me to believe this. You should read the guide I wrote here.

    Sorry for the late reply.
Thanks for your replies Herb and Petro.
As I am new to this I didn't want to do something I shouldn't be doing but after a lot of reading on the web I have made my mind up on the moral side of things with the roms.

I have figured out what files I need but haven't had chance to try them as yet.

I have a Wii u pro controller and wanted to know if the joystick part of the controller doesn't work to control the games is it possible the make them control the movement of the game.

I have been spending most of my time fixing the sound and tv resolution in retropi and all is well with the pi now :). Have to admit even though I struggled I have enjoyed learning something new :). I'm going to buy the book on pi projects next :)

    First there's this. https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

Second, if you want your 8bitdo controllers to work with reicast like they do in the other emulators, have you tried setting them up in Rgui while in Reicast?

I have essentially the same kit, but mine was from Canakit. It will do the job. Yes you can set it up from a Mac.

There are a ton of guides online and you would do well to familiarize yourself with the wiki content here. For real. Read it. Understand it.
