@bollwerk I have the same problem, I'm trying to run raspbian on pi boy. At first I was stuck on LCL screen, but after adding mzdpi6.dtbo + config.txt of original pi boy sd card, the screen is no more stuck to lcl but it has vertical colored lines. I don't see other things, only these lines.

Have you an idea for that?

PS : if you wonder why I do that it's because I bought pi boy only for using little piggy tracker, a free program for make music with gamepad or buttons. And the retropie which is in my original sd card has problems, each time I change something in the sd card (using sd usb adaptor to linux computer), emulationstation doesn't start for a while (so i'm stuck on black screen, and it sometimes start again completly randomly...)
So i'm searching something more stable and I already know how to boot directly on little piggy tracker it is working on an other raspberry pi

    Thank's

@mitu said in Remove the RetroPie Slash Screen?:

    See https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Splashscreen/ for configuration options.

Ah yes, now I remember. I was able to do this on my Pie 3 B, but it had been so long I couldn't find it again (even though it was staring me right in the face). Was too focused on the terminal commands that I forgot about this menu. Simple and effective. Thanks!

@mitu thank you for chiming in, just been trying to do my research before posting so as not to create dupe posts here if at all possible; knowing this I'll try to rephrase and repost.

    @windg
I am having this same issue with my f310 game pad and Legend of Mana on the psx. I have tried everything including setting all 8 pads to analog but to no avail. The switch on the back of thr f310 is set to X-Input mode, so the analog should work. What am I doing wrong? I really want to play this game on my retropie.

    Update:
I finally figured it out. After doing the above, I had to save a config file for this game and then hit select and the B-button to reset the game while my settings were in effect. After it reset, I was able to use the controller. I was about to go crazy trying to solve this.

@leonjordan i had a number of problems installing the openbor scriptmodules. i suggest you try RetroPie-Extra version of the openbor scriptmodule, which will install an up to date build (65xx) with ability to direclty launch .pak files without extracting them.

I used an Arduino breadboard controller to turn my fan on and off. Also, 2.

@yfzdude I finally did find it; at least in my RetroPie, it's actually:

Quick Menu -> Overrides -> Save Core Override
Quick Menu -> Overrides -> Save Game Override

Writing this primarily for the benefit of future readers.

Thanks for the help on this. I don't know how I missed it; I would have expected save options on the Main Menu, but I'm sure there's a method to the madness.

But what I don't understand is why l2ping is not working on my retropie installation. Do you have an idea ?

No, I'm not familiar with it. How did you pair the controller ? Did you pair it manually or with the RetroPie Bluetooth configuration ?

@pieterken without being familiar with the software we can't really say but retropie sits on top of raspbian, so anything that runs as a background process/daemon (which is what i assume 'domoticz' is) should still be running.

what do you use the browse the internet on TV? normal raspbian? you can launch into the pixel desktop via retropie: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/FAQ/#where-did-the-desktop-go

@mitu Sorry, that's what I meant, but thank you for clarifying. I'm thinking of trying again with a single emulator and see if it works. Does that make sense?

@TheWarden THANK YOU!!! I was struggling with this for hours, tried so many solutions, edited so many files, this worked for me 100%
One thing to note, it's not labelled "enable hotkeys" I think it was just "hotkeys" or something, anyway I never would have figured this out without this post, thanks again

@steams71 I messed around with a few different cycles, it somewhat helps...but it just seems this game is on the cusp of the Pi's performance envelope. I found around 16,000 - 18,000 is the best it can do and not have audio issues.

I turned off all the fun caveats of the game and just run it as a clean ice, bare bones game.

I'm not thrilled...but I'm very happy to have it running and playable on my build.

    Thanks for the help!

@yfzdude and @dankcushions , thank you for joining the discussion, and glad to have someone who is familiar w/this controller... geez I can't believe all this time that I didn't realize that the Logitech logo was a button as well(!!). I may have to do that controller test again to see what it comes up as, because somehow I missed it even there. So fortunately, I was able to assign it as the HotKey button, although it didn't actually show up the first couple of times I pressed it, which isn't entirely reassuring, but it seems to be working now.

So that said, I may wanna look into getting different controllers moving forward (including possibly that Dualshock that you mentioned), but for the moment this seems to get the job done and pause the game as I'd originally hoped, so yeah, doesn't look like I may wanna return this controller as I'd feared.

But yeah, re: that weird "Mode" button, you're right, it DOES seem to alternate you btwn/enable and disable the cross-shaped directional controls and the thumbstick one, and there'd been a few times during games when one control didn't seem to be working (when I'd pressed Mode without realizing it), and had to switch to the other directional option. Usually I'd end up just resetting the game to get it back to normal, but glad to know now what the purpose of it is.

@mitu said in Newbie. PI4, trying to use GPIO for controllers:

You can use a I2C GPIO expander (like MCP23017/MCP23008) to get additional inputs.

Would you recommend using the GPIO expander or doing something simpler like tearing apart a generic usb keyboard and just wiring in the buttons to the keyboard matrix? I just want to add in some secondary buttons, i'm not worried about keyboard bounce or more than 2 keystrokes at a time. (the 2 flipper buttons on the side of the controller).
