@Concat I've tried the trinary flag, but didn't have any effect either.

For the buttons, just load dosbox without a game. Map something like "T" to your A button, and see if you can type a T with the button. No idea why a button mapping wont work. Thats the easiest thing to do in this tool...

    I'll try that later.
Here's another thing I was thinking about trying out though.

    • min – The reported minimum value on the axis. Used for determining trigger levels. • max – The reported maximum value on the axis. Used for determining trigger levels

Except I'm not 100% sure how to implement it, but I was thinking something likes this...
Assuming my thumbsticks have 'idle' axis values ranging between 0-2000 and either -32767 or 32767 when hold to the max in a direction, then defining a min/max value close to the max value should work? (in theory)

    # so for movement to the left axis vendor=0x045e product=0x028e src=2 target=mouse axis=0 min=-30000 max=-32767 # movement to the right axis vendor=0x045e product=0x028e src=2 target=mouse axis=0 min=30000 max=32767 # up movement axis vendor=0x045e product=0x028e src=3 target=mouse axis=1 min=-30000 max=-32767 # down movement axis vendor=0x045e product=0x028e src=3 target=mouse axis=1 min=30000 max=32767

EDIT: Well that seemed to have fixed the deadzone issues, but besides that nothing is working like it should.
Currently the mouse cursor is fixed top left and won't move except for when I push the thumbstick all the way to the left, then it moves to the bottom left in a flash and when I release the thumb it moves back to top left.
It seems to me like something is messed up when it comes to button/axes values, and it's not registering the values as presented by jstest
Really weird because DOSBOX's internal mapper works perfectly fine, if only it had the possibility of mapping the mousekeys.

I've also tested running just dosbox with the Y button mapped to the letter y but it's not responding.

@Chillimonster said in [Lr-mame2003 trackball issues. Not always seen](/forum/topic/3876/lr-

When the trackball is not recognised i get no response from the cat / dev/input/mice command, and when it is detected i get the usual character output.

Going to try re-imaging the card incase i've messed something up, and have another play later.

Not a bad thing to try, but if this was image corruption it wouldn't be changing. I wonder if maybe the USB connection is intermittent or perhaps draining the power to a point where it stops working. Because the 'test' revealed that when it's not working, linux itself isn't even getting the inputs. I've seen similar issues when plugging in too many devices without a good power supply, or not using a powered USB hub.

So I believe the issue is that emulationstation won't allow the video from mplayer to play over it. I've tried adding --ontop to the line in order to have it play over emulationstation, but that program always seems to be over mplayer, and I can only hear the audio of the video after emulationstation starts.

Sounds similar to the issue I had before I configured my controller for Dreamcast.

@BuZz Thanks. It was worth a shot.

I didn't see anything on Attract-Mode's documentation about it there either. :(

@PopetheRevXXVIII which emulator are you using for nes? Fceumm cuts off on both sides on every game. Nestopia displays correctly.

I think you will be better off asking here:

I've not really looked at the structure of Recalbox before.

To make the microsd card a bit more accessible for removal, I've ordered one of these:

So an update here after some playing around I am noticing that the runcommand is not saving the any video resolutions I change. I thought it was only changing resolution thus the aspect ratio wasn't changing but apparently it should also be changing aspect ration since its in the options. When I press select on my DS3 to change an option it doesn't see to show the option change in the parenthesis. So I think this is actually a runcommand issue?
