I understood you first post, but a libretro core might not read or write the same .cfg file as the standalone emulator. Usually when an emulator is ported to the libretro api, its options are implemented and exposed as Core Options in RetroArch.

There's no point in submitting an issue just for the sake of it - a forum post is functionally the same. PR's are always welcomed, but if you'd want guidance for developing it, I recommend using the forum instead of Github.

Please add more info about your system, as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

This thread from 2018 discussed a couple of options to stream your Pi's picture to another system, but I don't know how much of it is still viable. As you can see there, I tried to do it myself, but I eventually gave up, because it was either not working or too slow on my Pi 3B. Maybe the latter will be better on a Pi 4.

I also tried a external capture card for around 80€, but although it worked, it added somewhat of half a second of delay, which made most games not pleasant to play.

The reason I wanted to stream the picture rather than just use an hdmi splitter was that my 16:9 / 720p video projector doesn't like the native solution of the 4:3 / 1600x1200 monitor in my arcade cabinet. So I had to convert it somehow, and streaming was one possible way to do that.

Finally, I found a working solution in an external hdmi-to-vga converter, since my projector only has the aforementioned problems only with digital video signals. Luckily, there's no discernable difference in the quality of the analog vga picture, maybe because I spanned the hdmi cable most of the way and plugged the vga converter directly into the projector (it's only the size of a cable's connector without the cable).

Just some experiences that may show you a viable way for your setup.

    @zack06007 Welcome to this forum.

You should open your own topic for your problem rather than to "necro" a four-year-old thread. Retropie was updated a million times (figuratively 😉) since the last post here, so any solution from here could be outdated for a long time.

Additionally, in your new topic, you should give more information about your system like it's requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first, and also show us the relevant part of your gamelist.xml in a code block like the one in @Riverstorm's post, as the tiniest details matter for such problems.

You want TWO collections, that's the hurdle.

If you wanted ONE... You could switch off "quick system select" in the ES menu and start ES on the collection. The person wouldn't necessarily see the systems unless they "backed out" of the collection. The system/collection wouldn't change with Left/Right. The person would be able to "back out" with a button though.

I wonder if there was some CFG hack that could make the wording of the systems "blank" and they'd be there, but the people wouldn't know that they could select them. To them it may look like ES is stopping in dead space. (In which case they'd most likely just keep moving left or right.) This is just me thinking out loud. Is this plausible Mitu?

The BIOS should work, but what's the error that you get when starting the game ?
Can you check the checksum of the file against the list of the ones listed here and see if it matches ?

In RetroPie, the NeoGeo system is separate, so you can copy the NeoGeo romset collection to the neogeo folder and the arcade only romset to arcade.
You can combine them if you want, but you might want to keep neogeo separate just in case you'd want a different configuration applied to it (see this post for an example of why you'd want that).

Thanks for the input everyone. I've got a handful of working games and I'm happy with that for now. I have far more on my Linux tower RetroPie build that is more fit for this kind of thing.

I have seen a thread about this on here gut it gives no explanation on how it was solved and is very old.

I think the solution was to mod the stick with an IPAC usb encoder.

So i bought some electronic switches and a custom usb keyboard encoder (ipac2), installed it in my atrox and ended up with a fully working xbox one and raspberry pi machine.

Can you try to test the controller with jstest, from the command line and see if the inputs are registered ? Exit EmulationStation and run from the terminal

    jstest /dev/input/js0

You can exit the test by pressing Ctrl+C.

I will give that a try and get back to you thanks.

@BobbyJoe I was wondering if you could share your tweaks?

I followed the instructions in that link (I am using RetroPie 4.6 installed from the official image).

When I try and run a game it returns to the RetroPie screen. The log has the following error: "Unsupported bit depth".

I tried following the advice of @SpudsMcToole here, https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/20471/what-the-heck-s-happened-to-advmess, but wasn't clear what lines he deleted from his .rc file to get the BBC Emulation working via advmess.

Any hints and tips you can provide would be greatly appreciated.
