@Dalrint said in So I'm trying to back up my retropie SD Card...:

One is a drive in a format windows keeps asking to reformat ( G: )

Windows can't read the Linux file system on the second partition, because of Microsoft's worldview of "there are no other systems next to ours". That said, asking to format an unknown partition goes beyond bad manners in my opinion, as it can cause serious data loss for the user.

@Dalrint said in So I'm trying to back up my retropie SD Card...:

So I tried it without worrying about it, yeah. And it did indeed do that! Awesome.

Did you expand the filesystem to the bigger SD card after the migration? If not, see these instructions how to do it.

@helenmai FS-UAE is the best Amiga emulator for Ubuntu. It's worth checking the documentation for FS-UAE:

      https://fs-uae.net/docs

The setup script will also install the FS-UAE Launcher which may be useful.

      https://fs-uae.net/launcher
      https://openretro.org/fs-uae-launcher

I have managed to launch SWOS 96-97 in FS-UAE from floppies using a shell script. I installed FS-UAE on my Linux Mint machine from the Software Center, not the RetroPie setup script so my method may require modification but I would be happy to share.

If you are unfamiliar with the Amiga hardware/emulation, then I would recommend using Amiberry on a Raspberry Pi. I found the process to be a far more straightforward.

@kdragon_2 RetroPie is just Raspbian Linux underneath, so as long as your setup works with Raspbian and the OS detects your setup as a controller, RetroPie should recognise it and use it. As for the how to communicate with it, that's up to you - Linux/RetroPie already includes a few drivers that interpret GPIO inputs as a controller - look in the Docs.

@nevisx Think about using favorites on ES. There you can collect your files so maybe a list with NES translations and NES Homebrew will help you. Real folders are not intendent to work .......

There is a bug in ES that makes folder navigation possible.
      https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/11308

But it needs modified scripts to define right emulator calls - from the edge view it is possible with lots of manual editing gameslist files.

@watford98 said in Switching between arcade and gamecube controls:

Q1 - Can i plug some of the mayflash type adapters into one of the ports and have this work in tandem for certain games.

      Yes, sure.

Q2 - How would i set it up so that the control type could be switched for different games.

You can use the joystick selection tool created by @meleu [1] or look in the RetroArch configuration editor and switch the player mapping (i.e. P1 would be the GC controller for a certain system).

@redrumpanda Some things you can't dumb down much further, and the Wiki is already written (mostly) to be understood by laymen. But you'll need to be willing to learn and that always requires some time and effort.

Let's start by collecting more information:

Which operating system is on your Laptop? Are your Pi and Laptop connected via network?

Just a site note: If the controller really is compatible with the PS3, you could try this wireless adapter. I'm using its Wii U Pro variant for my Wii U Pro controller clones. If it works for PS3 like it does for Wii U Pro, it "just works" without any special software.

Guys, you are actually amazing. It finally works. Thank you so so so so much! I've been banging my head on my counter to not being able to do this.

It now works with all of my themes, (if someone uses Chicuelo, add <color>ffffff00</color> within the systemInfo tag and then the number of games will be transparent, if it still renders on your screen ( depending on your resolution).

Thanks for all the help on this thread <3

It allows you to rename most of your files in batch mode easily.

@southblazia You don't need to install any additional drivers for a DS4, as soon as your pair it via Bluetooth it should be ready to be configured in ES. Please give more information about your setup as requested in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

@gomezdad If you get white noise from the 3.5 jack, you can try another audio driver by adding this line to your /boot/config.txt:

      audio_pwm_mode=2

It's said to be experimental, but it improved the 3.5mm sound on my Pi 3b significantly.

You can also look at White Noise Fix in the Docs for more solutions.
