      @cdm5751 Please do not post a support request without first reading and following the advice in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first (as agreed when registering).

      There is no gamecube or ps2 emulator for the rpi3 and it's way beyond the capabilities of the RPI.

      Thanks dankcushions. I wanted to know because I would like to buy a raspberry pi 3 model B knowing I can run the Mortal Kombat Games and any 80s arcade game before that. Furthermore, emulating PS1 is better than paying 20 to 50 dollars a game here in the USA. For example, I have a actual PS1 in my apartment but on EBAY Crash Bandicoot 1 is going for 35 to 50 dollars (Black Label Complete).

      With prices like that, I might as well get a raspberry pi model 3 someday. Thanks for being patient with me.

      Have a good day :-)

      Great, okay thanks. I just wasn't sure if the whole "update selected packages" selection would look for the latest ver locally.

      Thanks for your help !

      @rbaker It quickly starts to feel like a lost cause. You ask for more detail, you give them the link to where there is an actual list of things that we need in order to help, and it is obvious there is no effort. Folks are still willing to help, but I understand the frustration that @herb_fargus and @BuZz must feel over the years--four posts after I asked for details and still none. I think I am out.

      @noodlebin You would do well to click Docs at the top of the screen and step through the Wiki pages. Most of your lingo will be described on those pages in great detail. It's asking a lot of this forum for everyone to just shout out definitions of things. Best do a little research on your own and as specific questions.

      As for overlays, this usually refers to images that are used in conjunction with an emulator that technically render over the game video, but are usually built with a big transparent "hole" in the middle and are sized so that they only fill in the pillar-box sides of games that are running on a widescreen. For example, an arcade game which was built around a 4:3 aspect ratio CRT won't fill a 16:9 TV screen, so an overlay can be configured for that game to display the artwork that surrounded the screen of an original arcade cabinet. There are other overlays that serve to apply semi-transparent effects such as simulated scanlines to give that retro CRT look to modern LCD displays, but most of us use a shader for that now.

      Launch Images--This probably refers to an image that displays on the screen briefly while a game is launched. In its simplest form, it could be an image that just says "Loading your game" but it can easily expand to custom images per title as a way to add extra artwork to enhance the player experience. It could also refer to the SD Card image downloaded and written to an SD Card used to launch RetroPie on a Raspberry Pi.

      @patsfanasg

      Most of the titles have ._ before them.

      When you copy files over from a Mac it makes a duplicate junk file that begins with ._. You'll ultimately want to switch to a transfer program like Cyberduck to avoid the issue. You can get rid of the junk files that are currently there by dropping to the command line (F4) or using ssh and typing:

      find /home/pi/RetroPie -name "._*" -exec rm -rf {} \;

      @antsmalls12345 The checksum is calculated based on the contents of the file. If the BIOS you have has a different checksum then that means the contents are different from the required file. It's not a matter of changing the checksum, it's a matter of obtaining a file that generates the correct checksum.

      Edit: I neglected to consider that you might just be making chitchat, in which case I'll reciprocate with; For the life of me, I was never able to understand why Frank Oz used the same basic voice for Yoda, Grover and Miss Piggy. I mean, the guy was a brilliant puppeteer, but it just seems like he got a bit lazy with the voice acting.

      @muzzy333 I think windows thinks file that end with .img is treated as a virus and fails. I don't have a Win10 machine so I'm not sure how to change config to accept these files.

      @backstander I haven't tested the specifics, but I think it could be spaces, but it could also be brackets like "(" and ")" that cause it to break.

      @glennlake said in new pie user. how to install LCD to work with retropie:

      @isayno The pi3 needs 2 to 2.5 amps by it's self to run well. If the screen is pulling power from the pi I think that is your problem. I couldn't find a manual for your screen but in the remarks on Amazon's site saying he had some problems. I will paste it here:
      "Works pretty well and Does what I need it to do. I followed the instructions others have posted to get the pi to display to the screen and it works perfectly. Has a weird quirk which I cant seem to figure out. I decided not to power the screen from the USB of the pi so that I don't have any power issues when the pi is running. But if my power source is separate I.e 1 power source for the pi then another for the screen nothing will display on to the screen. However if I have 1 power source lets say a battery bank with 2 USB ports and the pi and screen are powered off that everything works fine. But once I power the screen on separate battery bank nothing is displayed again. Which I find odd that the screen needs to be powered on by what seems to be the same power circuit as the pi and that it's not just hdmi. Weird but for my application they're on the same power source anyways."
      It looks like the power source for the pi and the screen needs to be from the same source. My guess is the ground may be the issue but I have no other info. Hope this helps.
