      I was having success running some Windows stuff with Wine and Exagear on the 3B, but Exagear had the rug pulled out from under it when the devs went bust and we never got a Pi 4 version. QEMU is completely borked on the 4 as well, so there is currently no way to get Windows apps to run.

      Yes, they do. However you must buy a MayFlash Dolphin Bar. After that, you can use the Wiimote as a lightgun.

      Sorry, but you're using a 3rd party image bundled with the hardware, which we don't/can't support.
      Note that selling RetroPie is against the project's license - https://retropie.org.uk/about/legal/, so you've been scammed, since RetroPie is free/open source software.

      @mitu Good point.

      @Dembered I've created a small script that enables the control for Midnight Commander with joypads... --> Midnight Joy!
      There you see the script invoked that mitu talked about.

      Edit:

      #Code Snipplet #Path to script readonly JOY2KEY_SCRIPTLOC="$HOME/RetroPie-Setup/scriptmodules/helpers.sh" #Key Config, 4xdpad, enter,F10,space,F9) --> change layout here readonly CONFIG=(kcub1 kcuf1 kcuu1 kcud1 0x0a kf10 0x20 kf9) # --------- JOYS --------- # Import from RetroPie setup, uses joy2keyStart and joy2keyStop # scriptdir is used by joy2key if [[ -f $JOY2KEY_SCRIPTLOC ]]; then source "$JOY2KEY_SCRIPTLOC" scriptdir="$HOME/RetroPie-Setup" joy2keyStart ${CONFIG[@]} else echo "Can't import Joy2Key Script! Error!" echo "Script not found in: $JOY2KEY_SCRIPTLOC" sleep 5; exit 1 fi - - YOUR CODE - #Important stop that devil! joy2keyStop

      People even make their own bootup videos and hide the boot text so you get a nice clean video before the menus load.

      True. I found a bunch of great looking, generic "loading screen"-type videos on Youtube and downloaded a few for my cab. You only see it when switching on, but it greatly enhances the dedicated-machine-feel!

      I cherrypick aside from the odd few games I can think of here and there, or if there's something specific I want to play.

      100 SNES
      50 NES
      20 PS1
      30-40 Mega Drive
      30-40 Master System
      40 GBA
      10-15 GB/GBC

      Couple of spectrum, scummvm, Mega CD and pc engine games. I've got a few N64 games but that's more to test what will and won't work, as I have an everdrive and an n64 knocking about still anyway. I tried getting some dosbox games to run but it's so cumbersome it just doesn't seem worth it.

      @BuZz said in Retropie On Debian:

      @NY152 you will need to run retropie under the desktop on your system. Please post logs for any error you got installing as @mitu mentioned. Thanks.

      Astonishing ...

      NO error during installation.

      The problem with Debian is that you can not run EmulationStation in console mode (it does not detect a display)

      Under ArchLinux, no worries without any desktop environment. EmulationStation starts and runs the emulators itself without any problem.

      So saying that an office environment is mandatory is a totally false.

      I will look for myself since without thinking more than that, the office environment is for you indispensable, you consider this as normal, not me

      thanks anyway

      Do I have to do anything special when programing it to account for these new USB signals?

      Can you be more specific ? How are you using the USB ports - just using a regular controller/gamepad or you have a another device type of device that connects via USB and you'd like to act as a controller ?

      @MikeM68 said in Plug and play systems. Recommendations?:

      Found several retailers online and my favorite so far is a bar top by https://gameroomsolutions.com/

      Like so many others, they're violating Retropie's many noncommercial licenses by selling Retropie as part of their GUTS pack ("pre-flashed with attract mode/retropie").

      Like @quicksilver said, you'll get only support for the original RPie image here. So, I'd recommend shunning pre-built images and building your own system. In my experience, it's much more satisfying and you'll learn much in the process.

      edit: For the sake of completeness, this thread lists many legal sources for roms. Be sure to check the later posts as well as the opening post, since the latter hasn't been updated since Dec 2017.
