      @tusabez Nevermind. Apparently I changed the layout for Retroarch a while back which made them not playable. I got them running now. Thanks though!

      Got it. I found the issue.

      Using that CRT/HDMI video mode switcher added a two line statement to my \boot\config.txt that wasn't there before.

      framebuffer_height=1920
      framebuffer_width=1080

      Not sure why it added this, but as soon as I commented and rebooted, my RetroPie core was back to normal size and not shrunken anymore.

      I don't have many statements active in my config.txt so I noticed an extra "list" of other video related stuff at the very bottom. It seemed to have duplicated some of the entries that are in sections above and placed them in the last [all] section of the file. I commented it all out so none of it is active.

      framebuffer_height=1920
      framebuffer_width=1080
      disable_overscan=0
      hdmi_force_hotplug=1
      enable_tvout=0
      hdmi_group=2
      hdmi_mode=82

      RetroPie - on the Pi models - doesn't use the desktop at all and it runs as a dedicated application (EmulationStation) from the console. If you want to use your Pi4 as a desktop enabled computer, perhaps it would be better to use Raspberry Pi OS and install the same emulators that RetroPie uses and run them standalone.
      You can start RetroPie from the desktop environment, but it's not a supported configuration and not something we recommend.

      @holyheadshot said in Cannot map controls to IPAC:

      Maybe another silly question but I've read other threads about emulation station configuring as gamepad vs keyboard. Would changing something like that help?

      There's no explicit setting in EmulationStation for that, however there is one for the IPAC and it's referenced in the doc page I linked earlier.

      @seraphiscain said in (RetroPie X86) How to change global lr- emulator volume?:

      Is there any way to get the setting in /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg to actually apply to all lr- emulators?

      They should apply to all lr- emulators. Unless you've used 'Save Configuration' for one of them, in which case they won't, since that would break the inclusion of said .cfg file - see https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#config-hierarchy.

      Actually you CAN emulate the PS2 on the Pi 4, but the speed is abysmal and the legwork required is insane. The tl;dr version of the story is you need to install Windows 10 using Windows on Raspberry and run PCSX2. SOME games run at playable speeds, but not many. Disgaea 1 and 2, Kingdom Hearts 1 and 2, Final Fantasy 10, and Final Fantasy 12 are playable. There are likely more, but those are the ones I've tested.

      Got it working. This required a visit to Atari Age to understand what was going on.

      There are some protections in A800 disks that lr-Atari800 can't get around but Altarri can. This was one of them, hence the odd error message. The emulator reads the disk, but it's not jumping over the sector of copy protection.

      I was graciously given a "newer" version of CA that had the protections removed.

      @mitu Thank you, That fixed it.

      I changed it because I found emulation station running first was affecting the performance of the pi when doing normal desktop processes and it would quickly get annoying to have to exit emulation station and type startx to get to the desktop(for me let alone my son).

      will go back to searching and see if i can figure something else out.

      @blackshadow13 Apart from samples for some games, there's also those that have CHD files for them. I saw a set and it was huge and well over 120 GB. If you do have to get a set i recommend a macchanger and VPN for pc anonymity. You know because Nintendo has been harming emulation and is trying to label it as piracy.
