      LTS 18.04

I can't find one that supports the odroid c1+
I was installing what was recommended in the guide.
I think I'll try this one next.

@clyde said in Arcade on wheels..:

Great idea and build. In addition, you could cover it with a one-sided mirror so it looks like a hall mirror when it's turned off. :)

That would look very nice, but I don't know if I can deal with all the glare it will produce.

There is also the Free Heroes 2 engine (Fheroes2) that you can compile on Raspbian and make it work. I have succesfully tested it both in Raspbian desktop(X11) and in Emulationstation. It runs best in Raspbian desktop(X11) since running it in Emulationstation is too slow in speed.

I might as well create an install script like i did with Hexen 2 Hammer of Thyrion source port.

By using the Free Heroes 2 engine you will not be needing dosbox as this will run Heroes 2 natively through the source port.

Let me know if i can be of any help to you.

@grant2258 Thank you for the response! I certainly can use the standalone version, which I will probably end up doing. I want to eventually (possibly) replace my Raspberry Pi with a small laptop that runs RetroPie, since I have access to better hardware. So I was hoping to setup a system I can connect to the TV and use the interface entirely with the controller.

I'll just have to make due for now, and choose a solution that suits me best.

@darishzone The gamelist XML file format is really straightforward and easy to read and edit. Don't be afraid to experiment. If you're editing the files from a PC, I recommend using Notepad++ for this.

@fuzzybat23 berryboot works differently. You can mount the partition with the globally shared config.txt though - https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/6972/location-of-berryboots-config-txt

Ya there was another one i saw from the same seller it was 70$ for a 128gb card with the same files and the only person that reviewed it said it was like shoved in an envelope with no protection what so ever and the guy even sent the wrong version but also why are people giving people like that money for something you can easily do and really if the person says they don't have a pc or something they can always use a friends system to build up the files.

@caelthunderwing @Ecks Man, I really didn't want to have to flatten and reinstall because I'd already put a LOT of roms on this thing, but the Kintaro image appears to have been the problem, yup. Using the base one from the website solved the problem. Time to start moving the roms over again!

At this point I just have input lag to deal with, but that's a separate issue I'm going to have to look into and make a separate thread for if necessary. Thanks for your help!

someone asked about this on reddit a few weeks back, and i told them to add it to:
      /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh

      expressvpn connect &
      emulationstation

it seemed to work for them. here's the thread for reference.

      @clamswan https://retropie.org.uk/about/legal/

i think the typical retropie user is not a software programmer, either. it does take time, but almost everything has been done before by someone else, and documented.

even if it wasn't against the license, a pre-built retropie system is not a viable consumer product. they go wrong, and when they do no-one will/can support you. this software is a work-in-progress, and built for people who want to learn, change settings, etc, rather than those who want a emulation box that sits under the tv and 'just works' (although, with some effort, you can get close to that).

if you really want an easy to use emulation system i suggest official products like the NES/SNES classic.
