@phillip_benoit I've been doing PRs to a respectable number of open source projects for a few years now, and from all of them, only one of the projects has consistently reviewed my PRs in under 3 weeks. If the project is popular and is handled by few people, you should be accustomed for them to take several months to look at your PR.
I would rate RetroPie as one of the most decent projects I've contributed to, in terms of pull requests accepted and time taken to evaluate them, especially considering the small number of people working on it.
My point is: you can change projects, but it's no guarantee that you won't be ignored on the other side as well. "Occupational hazards" I guess.

Are you a master at this sort of thing?

Could you get Shovel Knight linux working on pie 4.7.1? with Wine?

I am just a techie. It is more the other way around: It feels I stand on shoulders of giants, when using the stack which is already there (RaspiOS, RetroPie, SDL, retroarch, ...). I like to make use of the ingenuity of open source and contribute my stuff, thus other can learn of / use it / extend it.

You may open a new thread for Shovel Knight and True Love, maybe someone of the community jumps on it. I never did get my hands on that games, tbh.

@kokokool As I mentioned before, I have the following test report

Peripherals and Bluetooth devices (Using a BT dongle)

2.4 Ghz Gamepad = Zero input lag detected. BT Earbuds = Had to pair it via ssh, instead of BT GUI, as well as I had to install pulse audio bluetooth. However, since my dongle es BT 2.1 I sense a bit of audio delay, but no audio crackling or popping. I'll test Wiimote pairing (it takes a bit of coding before) if theres a lag to report. Video = I'm using HDMI output on a DELL LED 1080p at 50 hz. No signs of signal delay. Games/systems Tested 8 bit consoles = full speed, no sound glitches 16 bit consoles = full speed, no sound glitches (perhaps, I might test games such as DKC or Super Mario RPG to check max performance. Arcade systems ( MAME 2003 romset, FBA)= runs 100% accurate (KOF 2003, SF. Today I'll connect a spinner or a analog dice to test mapping in racing games such as pole position, etc. PORTS = Quake3 Ill runs 100% full speed (including Multiplayer-internet) if you change settings to "fastest" and set resolution at 1024x768. Impressive.

Hexen and Heretic = 100% fullspeed, no flaws

additionally I want to install retropie-Extra script modules in this machine. Wanted to try GMloader and try some apks as droidports.

32 bit= Tested heavy GPU PS1 demanding games such as, Tekken 3 or Wipeout. Both run at full speed without glitches. I'll test two more PS1 heavyweight titles to confirm this point

Sega Saturn = tested with lr-yabause. 20-30 fps max.

64 bit = this is interesting. I had bit of trouble trying to run Mario Kart 64. somehow my system reports two mupen64plus-glide64 as standalone (not libretro), which one of them worked directly, but with two issues: sprites missing at the beginning of the game (for those who know, the spinning nintengo logo appears completely and very detailed), but the menu whe you choose a car, lap, cc, etc, shows random squares so I had to guess pressing accept until I get to the racing part. the system works but at 20-30 fps.

PSP = I had trouble to compile ppsspp (standalone and libretro) on my machine.

Dreamcast = I will compile reicast today.

Kodi from Retropie-extras runs ok. Haven´t load a avi/mkv file yet
    That's all for now

@phillip_benoit create a branch for each change, before adding your changes, then create a PR from that branch.

@roslof This reply is amazingly detailed, thank you for taking the time to write this up. End result: your instructions helped make everything work perfectly and I am now able to run the older versions of lr-mame. Thank you again!

If your roms are already on a Linux/unix/mac, you can use these scrips: https://gist.github.com/ReallyVasiliy/32c33be595408d353e37999ce305ea4d

You need to save each file on the target system, and give them execute permissions (in the terminal, run “chmod a+x move”).

move: moves the roms specified in the file <arg1>, which are contained in directory <arg2>, to a new directory <arg2>/<arg1>. An example terminal command could be:
    $ move somewhere/Clones.txt /userdata/roms/fbneo
Will move files specified in Clones.txt from /userdata/roms/fbneo to /userdata/roms/fbneo/Clones

The remove script has the same arguments but simply deletes them permanently instead of moving.

@mitu I'm using Google Chrome at the PC and tried Microsoft Edge as well, but no lucky either.
But after seeing the link you sent, I got it. Such a simple thing that caused me a big headache. But thanks to you, it is fine now. Many thanks, dude.

Even if it has been around ever since, the scriptmodule opens a separate config path outside the config ini and it is not transparent to the user that some flags are hardwired in the scriptmodule.

I understand that this may cause some confusion, but as I said, I'm not aware of any reported issues related to this.

I ditched the initial idea to have exactly one config source thus, to have any config switch set in/get from the scriptmodule as it would be a royal annoyance to rewrite the evaluation/precedence logic of the config ini in bash.

I don't see why would be necessary. Ultimately the dialog based UI maintained in RetroPie is just a wrapper over the CLI options, meant to be used by users who don't need many options besides maybe turning on 'video' downloads. Avanced/experienced users are using the CLI to scrape and can (and do) ignore the UI. For the former users, the current .cfg is (ubenknownst to them) the config.ini, since they just use a couple of options to scrape and don't seek or need other parameters.

As a compromise I would see that the all applied switches from the scriptmodule are prompted to the user before he/she starts the scraping and/or have the skipped flag also configurable.

Yes, I can see this working - start anew without any .cfg so the user would always need to set the parameters and those parameters (including the skipped flag if we don't want to default to a safe value) are not persisted to any configuration. We can make also make it more clear that options set in the UI override the config.ini options.

    @Retrodade

The first post of this topic is from November 2020.
    It already worked back then.
So indeed it will work with older versions.

I have intergraded in my script.
If you use my script and installed a system then you can already use Hotkey "T" for translation.

@cyperghost Hi, Thank you for your great work with this script, but I have the Issue with the Raspberry Pi Zero 2 W.
I have installed you script and I have Connectet to Pin 5 (GPIO3) and GND a momentary switch. I also preformed the comamnd:

    raspi-gpio set PIN3 ip pu

The shut down sequenze works fine but the zero dosn't power up again.
Is this a zero related issue?

    raspi-gpio get

    returns:
    GPIO 3: level=1 fsel=0 func=INPUT

    Best Regards
