    @A12C4 Perfect explanation thank you!

I understand it all a bit more now and looking forward for it being merged (public). Looking forward to creating some grid based themes :)

    Thank you.

Sould not differ much of using USB as storage:
    https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Running-ROMs-from-a-USB-drive/

You just have to use your partition instead.

The newer versions of MAME can emulate Tamagotchi devices, but I'm not sure about Digimon. If not, new LCD games are being added all the time, so it may just be a matter of time. As far as RetroPie is concerned, running the newer versions of MAME would normally be a bad idea, as performance would be terrible. However, LCD games like these might not demand as much to run well. It'd be a great experiment. Here's an article discussing the games being added to MAME's repertoire and below is a video to see a few of them in action.

@analoghero It's an old binary but you can add videotags to gamelist for exp. in RetroPie gamelist menu and it will display any video without being linked to a ROM
So this method works as it should
But you are totally right ... a dedicated folder just for videos would be great!

@herb_fargus said in How to install retropi on arch system since apacman has been dropped?:

Not to be rude but generally those using arch know their way around Linux enough to sort things out.

I am unsure what you implying here/ what the message is . Do you intent to say that I should know the process of setting up a retro pie system in Arch since I use Arch. And should be well versed in matters concerning Linux so that when issues arise I could handle that myself . Maybe you can clarify your statement.

Is there a reason you aren't using a Debian based distro?

The wiki guide really was just a hodgepodged method of installing retroarch and emulationstation, not really retropie. Retropie was developed primarily for Debian based systems

The benefit is that Arch is an rolling release and the package management in Arch is something prefer.

Hi @A12C4, I been following this thread and really love the work you're doing here, can't wait to see the results. It will give the theme makers some awesome flexibility!

Lots of the emulators don't have "versions" also. The libretro cores are constantly updated etc - there is no such thing as a "version" for many of them.

On a technical level, this could happen by:

Get a copy of WolfMame 0.139, a copy of the MAME 0.139 source, and a copy of the current MAME 2010 source. Generate a source code diff between WolfMame 0.139 and MAME 0.139. Selectively apply the diff to MAME 2010 You have a libretro WolfMame core

The first two steps might take a couple of hours to figure out and set up in a filesystem tracked with git.

The last step could take hours, days, or weeks. If it took less than 10 days of work I think a coder would be proud. It's totally doable, and if someone took the lead they would probably get some help.

Maybe this would be good for a libretro bounty.

This can be done easily via dialog command. You will save lots of character to be assigned if you use hash value of password... So only 0-F needed!
You can also extend the command to ASCII-7bit but ... well it's solveable by ease. Who gots the time

We need a dilaog command with 4 Button layout
    1 Button OKAY
    2 Button CANCEL
    3 Button UPPER/LOWERCASE
    4 Button Numbers/Sentence signs

    then we build array [A-Z] and each character gots one counter... So 1 = A, 2 = B ....
We read back counter out of array and got the character. Each selected character is assigne to new array .... KEYBOARD input. Really easy! Any guy got time to code?

There is also the possibilty to import other WIFI via this method and use multiple SSIDs

Raspbian Stretch is not a requirement for Kodi 18.
Kodi 18 will be available on Raspbian Stretch when the final/stable version of Kodi 18 is available.
We might provide some tests builds of Kodi 18 when it gets closer to the final version, like beta or rc versions.

@hubbachubba looks like you're having problems for editing scripts on windows and then trying to run them on Linux.

Something like what this guy was having here.

Also, keep in mind what I posted on the OP:

UPDATE: The method described here became outdated after @pjft implemented custom collections to EmulationStation.

I'll keep the post for historical reasons, but I recommend you to use the ES custom collection feature instead.

@Global-Moderators could you guys please lock this thread? The trick in the OP became outdated and this topic exists only for historical reasons. Thanks in advance.

I believe that is still in the early stages of development. It's a promising project though.

Hi, I realise this is an old post but I thought I'd try to revive it by asking for a command help to run in windows PowerShell.

I've noticed some users on the forum asking for a 'release date' modification, changing the release date from, e.g 18/10/1985 to simply just 1985 and thought this could maybe be done with windows powershell.

    Standard format for the gamelist.xml
<releasedate>19851018T000000</releasedate> (note the first 4 digits)

    to be turned into...
    <releasedate>1985</releasedate>

I just wondered if this was possible using WPS and maybe having the option of adding an if statement of 'if no date found' add '19xx' to the release date tag inside the xml?

    Thanks :)
