That applies only to a certain kernel version which I don't remember exactly, but I know for sure that the kernel versions on Raspbian Stretch from the beginning doesn't need it anymore, it "sees" all the available memory. You can easily check that for example with free -m and adding the gpu_mem you have configured to that.

For those who would like to input their opinion, there's a discussion going on at github. They are indeed reversed due to CPS titles but that causes cross-type ABXY games to be unplayble without a custom config file.

@Zigurana If you want, maybe I can take a look when my job on the grid view will be "finished". I start to understand well this part of the code base.

@zigurana I use a different account name on the forum, @Koerty is just a placeholder so nobody take it. If you want an answer tag this account :)

@darknior I don't really follow what's going on on the forum, I will try to check it more in the future to collect more feedback.

But right now I'm busy disassembling and reassembling the grid view so RetroPie's main contributors can carrefully review each parts independently, so we get a strong and reliable code, battle tested and easy to upgrade/fix if something change in the future.

I planned to make a first public release once it is stable and mature enough for everyone to use it, but at this time it will be way less evolved than the one from Jacobfk20. So now, after seeing all of this messages about the grid view, I fear to have too much negative feedbacks even if more upgrade are planned for the future.

@meleu @Kaltinril I took a bit of action how the cleaner scripts (image and gamelist) work in general.

    @all users
First thing that stops me from integrating a picture/video remover into the BashROMManager is that there in no evidence that every user got the same file strategy.
    Second: Time shedule!

I tested these two wonderfull tools on my mashine and they work fine! I was able to remove entries from gamelists - after I removed some ROM files. So I these fine tools are working. But I think the responsibility is to much to remove files and work with fragile xml lists in a "automated" ROM deletion process. Please don't think the scripts are not working or the ROMManager itself is the culprit ... No! I simple have no time for extensive trouble shooting!

Here is the link to the image-cleaner script powered by meleu, kaltinril and sano
Here is the link to the gamelist-cleaner script powered by meleu and kaltinril

I think a chance that I step into integrating this is, if I start to scrape all my ROMs ;) I didn't do that the last 2.5 years so you can calculate if I do this in future. I think I will integrate a "log-file" of deleted rom-files into the BashROMManager and maybe a help section how the cleaner tools should be feed manual.....

Nevertheless if there is a strong demand maybe @Sano @hiulit @meleu @mitu and others can (if these nice guys got time) help to integrate. My github resporitory is open for everyone...

I deeply hope, that all these scraper things will be setted in per system SQLite databases once a time. Then it will also be easier to maintain and share such things. So we have a database, were all our roms get one hash string. The hash points to metadata. As long the hash value is in the database the ROM does excitst. To renew the database we have to renew all hash values ;)

@bananu said in VCMI in Retropie?:

It would be great if it´s added as experimental package

Until someone gets around to making a pull request for it's addition, you could always add it yourself. The process is fairly straightforward.

Its been a while since i implemented this and everything works just fine. I wonder though, would it be technically possible to load a different splash video or splash screen depending on the loaded es_system file?

For example, for console games a splash video and for arcade games a different splash video.

@markwkidd even if we had the template I guarantee you people would still ignore it just like they do the GitHub template.

Anybody tried Blue Shark (really old school ;-) ) with Dolphinbar/Wii controller ?
    Does it use crosshair ?
It's supposed to work both in lr-mame 2003 and 2010.

gpu is slow and only supports GLES/open gl 2. open gl 2.1 isn’t different from gles in terms of featureset, and that’s what matters.

cpu/core use doesn’t matter because cpu is barely used with pi3 plus mupen64plus (thanks to the arm dynarec).

mupen64plus-gliden64 is fairly well optimised for pi at this point, in my view. ultimately the gpu’s lack of features doom it.

system bus speed is always probably a bottleneck but no amount of speed will get over the GLES/gl limitations.

I requested the Config files path be pointed to the roms folder, but retract that request now due to the new features I’ve added to Amiberry directly:)

I still feel it should remain a supported file type for ES launching though as it is very useful that way

I just completed all of the FDS updates this morning. I'm particularly proud of these images since they were all made from scratch with nothing but the labels and a large disk image as a template.

Note that these images were reduced in size by 50% because they were too large to upload here at around 1.8MB each!

I would love this since I use mame2003-plus and there's no binary for that, so updating everything will take quite a bit of time.
