    @joabro One possibility: usually ROMs are either European or American, and these regions have different video systems compatible with the TVs of their respective markets. The former games are PAL 50Hz, meaning they refresh at 50fps. The later are NTSC 60Hz and refresh at 60fps, running slightly faster. So one possibility is that if you are from an European country and are loading a set of US ROMs, you may have this perception that it’s all a bit too fast (and they are, indeed, faster than you remember). If that’s the case, I’d say stick to them as this is how the games are meant to be played. People prefer US ROMs even in Europe, so much so that even Nintendo have loaded their European mini consoles with American versions of their games.

    @sfc_k said in Controllers will not work in-game:

    retroarch now likes my SNES controller but does not want to take inputs from the NES controller now. I think I am completely spent at this point. In response to your latest reply, I think I will have to simply bite the bullet and do a complete reimage. I am curious however, upon starting up the board on this first go around, I was initially stopped to do an input of gamepads in ES. My memory sucks, is it possible for me to simply negate that during the initial startup and simply play with the config files?

    Seems like both controllers are being recognised as one pad somehow like @simonster said. On first boot, I would configure the SNES controller only and see what happens. When it is configured correctly, I would remove it and configure the NES one. I would do the autodetect process on both and see what happens then inspect the configs. Also, take a look at this thread. Don't have them both connected at the same time during the config. This video is also worth a look even though it is old.

    Using and tweaking the guide above, I managed to get my Nvidia Shield Controller working via USB and map the buttons in the RetroPie GUI.

    I had to add this file, othervise it would not recognize the gampad buttons, only the trackpad:
    https://github.com/cyndis/shield-controller-config/blob/master/99-shield-controller.rules

    SUBSYSTEM=="input", ENV{ID_MODEL}=="NVIDIA_Controller_v01.03", MODE="0666", ENV{ID_INPUT_JOYSTICK}="1", ENV{ID_INPUT_MOUSE}=""

    I put this file in the following location:
    /etc/udev/rules.d/99-shield-controller.rules

    To activate:
    sudo systemctl disable xboxdrv
    sudo systemctl stop xboxdrv
    sudo systemctl daemon-reload
    sudo udevadm control --reload-rules

    The trigger buttons registers as an Axis? Guess this is due to the xboxdrv device configuration?

    All buttons work fine in the GUI, but when I launch RetroArch I had to manually map the buttons again in the "Settings->Input->Input User 1 Binds" And select "User 1 Device Index: NVIDIA ..."

    Then I mapped the buttons accordingly...

    Still some tweaking to go, but I'm getting there - using Linux is a learning experience every day ;-)

    ?

    So I ended up downloading the Hyperspin 2D cover set and it worked incredibly for this purpose.

    I do have one question though: We used to be able to scrape folders and add metadata to the folder itself. For example, for multi-disc PSX games, I'd put both discs in a folder and scrape the folder to have the metadata displayed when highlighted in the gamelist. Every time I try and do that now though, ES crashes and I get the following error...

    "lv10: TheGamesDBRequest - Error parsing XML.
    Start-end tags mismatch
    terminate called after throwing an insyance of 'std::out_of_range'
    what(): map::at
    Aborted"

    Does anyone know if attaching metadata to a folder was removed recently? I am currently running 4.3.8.

    @zerojay

    Perfect, if there is a pull request for it I can wait for it to be incorporated into a future update and I can update. For now, lr-reicast seems to actually be working pretty well for the couple of games i've tested.

    I will have a look for the pre-compiled binary though and perhaps give it a try.

    Cheers

    @vahnxdean Play it on windows with mame or buy it from steam. That game requires a newer version of Mame and I highly doubt it's playable even if you did get it running on the pi.

    There is a third scraper as well and it much more powerful than both of the other scrapers. The scraper is called Skyscraper - search Skyscraper RetroPie and you'll find it.

    Hi Clyde,

    Thanks for the reply. I've decided to test a few things out and see if I can get it going on my own. If I do, I'll post how I did it here. If not, I'll post the specific info you asked for above.

    Thanks again.

    @vansfannel Make sure your adapter is plugged into the top left USB port. USB ports determine player number unless changed with retroarch.
    Also check out joystick selection
