@heshy did you remove the core_freq overclock as well?

Did other N64 games work fine? Is it just super smash that you had issues with?

Once you start on the base stretch image it's just as simple as updating from the setup script. You shouldn't need to reflash as I don't anticipate any major changes before an official release

Hi mate I removed all the unwanted systems off for my cabinet. I found people going straight into stuff like Amiga and Playstation where you need keyboard or Analogue inputs. I have Arcade, nes & snes, master system & mega drive. Simple is better on a cab...i think.

@Spartacus as the fellows told you before me, the main problem on loading the N64 games could be the extension. If the files are zipped, unzip them and throw those files into the proper folder. The N64 extension should .n64 .v64 or .z64. Most of the games should work properly depending on the configuration and your raspberry model. I always had problems with Killer Instinct since I'm not able to find a good file for that game. But for the others, I had no problem at all.

Concerning the MAME incident, as @herb_fargus stated, the problem should reside on the romset you have. MAME has many different versions and a single game could work fine in one oh those versions but could not work in other. I don't remember but I guess most of the working games are in the romset 1.38

Basically i had started out using arcade controls using the Picade Hat wired to arcade controls'
That is recognized by retropie as being a keyboard, later on i set up a FC30 Pro for use with the console systems.

The issue i had was while learning how everything worked i had used different methods on how i was changing settings then i would change something in the a zip.cfg file or the per system retroarch.cfg then get really wonder why it wasn't changing when it was set in one of the overrides that i forgot i had used.

as i say, this time round i am trying to stick to rules as to what i use each type of config for so i know where to look to fix things later.

@skrapps914 What happens if you press TABto access the config menu then press your switches? mame4All is not part of retroarch.

Hey everybody, I have a quick update for those who want xBRZ-like quality from the Raspberry Pi.

I ended up working around this by replacing RetroPie with Lakka, setting the full-screen resolution there to 1280x720 and using the 4xScaleHQ shader (in the scalehq directory).

Everything runs smooth, tried with numerous games on various platforms, including MDK on PlayStation 1. No lag in the menus either, and the image quality is fairly close to xBRZ (though, of course, you can still tell the difference). I am quite happy with this solution.

Another nice shader you can try is scalefx-hybrid.

@hoodle The wires inside the nespi case are pretty thin. I do get the low power warning with mine sometimes, but mostly fixed that by using a 3A supply. Still get it once in a while when loading movies in KODI. The only way to fix it is to rewire the case with thicker cables.

In fact it is necessary to modify in the file advmame-1.4.rc the following line:

input_map [p2_lightgunx] mouse [2, x]
input_map [p2_lightguny] mouse [2, y]

Just a last report. So, I have installed my new case and the temperature difference is like day and night, dropping around 30° Celcius (from 80° to 50°, but just a small test, it will heat up a little more, but you get the idea)! Its one huge heatsink (whole case is one big heatsink) and no extra boards installed. I am just happy, plus the right emulator and no over heating issues and no fan noise! Still not really well tested, but I can see clearly the benefit.

Just someone is interested in it too, its very inexpensive also. My new case is: BIQU Aluminium Raspberry Pi Modell B for 11 Euros in Germany.

there's no need to rebuild anything. mame 0.78 set is trivial to obtain. what's more, it's a non-merged set so if you don't want all the clones, you can just delete them manually without breaking any of the ones you want to keep.

if it's only 400 roms you want it'll be quicker to just cut and paste those from the 0.78 set than to read our documentation ;)

I don't think that'll work in the way you're expecting it to. RetroArch's Netplay feature is really more like synchronized screen sharing. This works great for old console games where multiple players shared a TV screen and a couch back in the day. However, most GBA games required two units to be linked and Netplay doesn't support that. An exception would be the original GameBoy emulation core, lr-tgbdual, where two distinct units are emulated on the same screen in parallel. Another possible exception that applies directly to GBA games are the titles that allowed two players to pass a GBA back and forth, such as the 'Advance Wars' series. All in all, while it's entirely possible to Netplay GBA games in RetroArch, it's probably not all that practical.
