A lack of alternatives is never great, but I'm always thankful when I have at least one option available. Building a better mouse trap would be ideal here. The list of features already outweighs anything I've seen on Mac and Windows, but the ease of use could definitely be improved. Maybe someday that will happen, or perhaps even a challenger will rise through the ranks. Until then, sometimes we just have to dance with the only available partner. Even if it is TINA.

@dankcushions thanks, I had the last retropie, but for some reason the reicast was previous version, now im playing with 2 player MVSC2, soul calibur, Sonic, etc with my friends in my family property (its like a farm, far away from everything but for vacations its awesome) with the latest version, updated and works like charm, thanks guys , you're really awesome

@Sp1d3yman Also if the rom is in a zip, but unzipped it won't work, the whole game won't work.

@DarkWolf I use a bash GUI. It has options for Kodi, RetroPie, PIXEL desktop, MC File Manager, RP SetUp Script, System info, reboot & shutdown. Just pick the option and it launches. Any script could be launched from it, including the type proposed by the OP.

Another, option is for him to create the script and just set up a bash alias. So a special codeword or password could just be entered in the shell and the script would run.

So handy for people not familiar with the system. The Pi is basically the living room home entertainment system. In a computer not much bigger than a credit card. What a time to be alive!

I successfully am using an NES Advantage on RetroPie 4.2.3

I have an NES to USB Adapter plugged into the Raspberry and connect the NES Advantage to the adapter.

I do notice a problem when I boot the Raspberry Pi and the NES Advantage has the SLOW button turned on. The Pi also did not detect the controller the first time when I had the SLOW button turned on. With the SLOW and TURBO buttons turned off the Pi detects the controller without any problem. Then when I load and start playing a game I can turn the SLOW and TURBO buttons on or off without problem. For me, it seems only when the Pi is booting that I cannot have the TURBO and SLOW buttons on or else the controller does not work (I also get stuck on EMULATION STATION LOADING screen when booting up with the SLOW button turned on).

Thanks so much for your patience, this obviously did the trick. What I did is put that command in /opt/retropie/configs/all/autostart.sh, before emulationstation is called (otherwise the games didn't show up in ES because the USB wasn't yet properly mounted). It's still unclear to me why games can be accessed via symlink in ES, but the parser cannot access them. Oh well, the workaround works, and I hope future Googlers will find it easily. Phew!

You still want to set up options. You want to set ivoice on at least. (-v). This makes sure every single game no matter what, if it has voice it will automatically work. There are several homebrews and prototypes out that wont be flagged. And space patrol needs to have the ecs enabled if you want to hear the extra sound channels.

@herb_fargus Thanks for all your work. Everything was working before I update the script and everything. Maybe you could look into it some times? the USB feature is so great, especially with all the ISOs for the systems.

Maybe something must have broken the feature. It was working with the plain 4.2 image. (though, I had some issues at the boot up which said that it could not mount my hdd but it still showed all roms and mounted it properly).

@SonPluck The images won't be re-downloaded unless you delete them. There is an option to overwrite or append to the gamelist. Append will preserve the existing data including the last played and number of times played and only add in new games.
