@nilsholgersson pcsx-rearmed is known to have a lot of compatibility issues, being fast enough on arm processor came at a cost... and don't expect fixes for this, notaz (the main developper) has been quite inactive for years.
Your best bet is to use either the original hardware or a more accurate emulator (i would recommend beetle-psx-libretro) on a hardware more powerfull than the pi (i would say something with a cpu as close as possible to 3Ghz)

I also get a lot of those error messages. So much that it is affecting the performance and I'm getting a lot of video freezes. I hope that will be fixed soon.

Thanks for digging through this issue, I guess the new 3B+ is more finicky about measuring the power consumption.

Please limit yourself to one post on an issue and as a matter of etiquette, there's never a need for overly dramatic topic titles. Everyone here is more than happy to help without them, you just have to be patient. I'm closing this, but will leave the original open.

Ah that explains it. It's weird though, that it doesn't do that with every video. Is it only arcadeitalia scrapes that are like that? Maybe I'll just scrape with UXS. Not sure how to use Handbrake.

How do I "manually scrape and specify the -convert_video option?"

    EDIT:
I'm giving this a shoot before attempting something else:

    Hello Loxley,
I'm experiencing a very similar problem.
I edited the retrogame.cfg in the boot folder and then set up the controller in emulationstation.
Everything works in the menu like you described but when I jump into any game the controls have changed completely.
Have you figured out how to solve this problem?

    Regards Jakob

@markwkidd said in Need Help Configuring D-Pad to act as Analog Stick in Arcade Games:

This will be easier to accomplish with the new remapping system in RetroArch 1.7.2 -- probably RetroPie 4.5 though. Cold comfort today I know.

how would it work with this specific example? i don't know what the new retroarch stuff does, yet, so this will be an interesting example.

i'm thinking for retropie's initial binding, we give the users each abstracted retropad button, and they press the associated physical button they want to use for that, which seems logical so far. how would retroarch 1.7.2 change this approach?

i think it might be simpler to have your arcade rom folder on the server: https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/Running-ROMs-from-a-Network-Share

this way, the mame .hi files themselves would be also on this server (see https://github.com/RetroPie/RetroPie-Setup/wiki/lr-mame2003#high-scores), so you would both be using the same individual files. i guess you wouldn't be able to log scores on the same game at the exact same time.

@solomruby2018 3.6.0 is really an old version. Regarding the error message, starting a service requires administrative (root) privileges, so you need to prefix the command with sudo:

    sudo systemctl start bluetooth

The current (4.4) version works for the 3B version, but since your running version it's quite old, I'm not so sure that an update of the RetroPie-Setup script would work. If you want to upgrade to the latest version, I'd recommend to save your data (configuration/ROMs/artwork) and to write the new image to the SD card.

@sigmanutz Ideally you'd look at the dimension of the 64Gb drive with df and note the number of total blocks of the / partition, then compare to the df output from your 128Gb card (also in blocks) and note the number of blocks used.
But, just to make sure, just backup the biggest ROMs folder to your PC and you're sure to get a smaller image and the creation process will also be shorter. You can then move back the ROMs to the new system.

You'll need to weed through them yourself.

@drakaen391 I have the rb pi 3 b+ with retropie 4.3.17 ( the one that was recommended). I used the ip address given in the retropie menu on my pi. I have a telus modem (actiontec).

@mitu Thank, that makes sense. I had looked through that link previously multiple times, but not found anything saying that “input_12_btn” didn’t work. I will post my configs tomorrow, and manually modify the cfg file to see what happens. If I can confirm that the “input_12_btn” is being created instead of right trigger or whatever, I will report it as a bug

    @cyperghost ok I figured it out :)
it's a little bit of a bug but totally fixable.

ES uses both gamelist.xml found at /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/gamelists/"console"/ and /home/pi/RetroPie/roms/"console"/

so if there's no gamelist.xml in the console folder under roms, it will use the one found in configs. for some reason it doesn't remove entries, only adds them.

it will also not untag favorites if you DO have a gamelist.xml in your roms but DON'T have an entry in your gamelist.xml for the tagged favorite game.

Best word of advice: scrape like you've never scraped before lol

    UPDATE

I'm back home at it. I check the video_frame_delay and it was set to 0. I decided to take @BuZz 's advice I saw earlier and opened up Retropie Setup and updated the Retropie script to 4.4 (I dont think I actually updated the platform, just the script). From there -> Manage Packages -> Manage Main Packages -> lr-pcsx-rearmed -> selected "Update from Binary". Rebooted. Final Fantasy VII seems to be working correctly now. I appreciate the help and advise other people experiencing slowdowns to follow the tips in this thread.

I think it is fixed. I reboot multiple times and only once it flicked black for about 1/2 a second.

I moved my splash screen to /opt/retropie/supplementary/splashscreen/

    then I

edited asplashscreen.sh and removed the -b from around line 37 near OMX (that removed a black background that used to be needed to hide post text.

I had to use the command sudo chown on the directory to get write access
