From the RetroPie-Setup I uninstalled unnecessary components -- remove WolfRam, SonicPi, etc. Nothing more than a boot to emulator, so I figured I would get some clutter out of the way.

I then went back to trying to different gamepad configurations through the driver config file. I enabled all four ports and through sheer dumb luck GPIO7 (gamepad4) started reading. I still cannot get GPIO2 / GPIO3 to read the data from the controller, but I have two working NES controllers right now!

    I also tweaked the /opt/retroarch/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

There is a setting for joypad input scan cycle -- something along those lines -- that I opted to put at a value of 0 (I am trying to recall this from memory as the NES is now wrapped under the tree for dad) so that it would update controller state on demand. It was defaulted to 2 and the notes in the file were about adjustments for latency issues.

I also had to copy the configuration for player1_input* and update it for player2 within /opt/retroarch/configs/all/retroarch.cfg.

Also removed the override line from /opt/retroarch/configs/nes/retroarch.cfg

Still no idea why I cannot access GPIO3 / GPIO2 -- if anyone has any troubleshooting ideas I would be happy to jump through the hoops. I have the other SD card and another Pi3 at home I can run through.

    Sorry :)

I was a little inaccurate formulating the question!
In fact I think that any that has wanted in the past to configure a gamepad on uae4arm has encountered a similar problem...

    Pi Model: 2+
RetroPie Version Used: 4.1 downloaded from the website
USB Devices connected: Generic usb keyboard
    Controller used: FC30 8bitdo

I saw another thread with a similar problem.

Unfortunatelly, after a lot of trying to replace uae4arm binary, it crashed whatever I pass the curson on input configuration tab, inside uae4arm.

Someone has some advice to configure a gamepad/keyboard on this emulator?

Also, you may have some luck using the DSK2ROM utility for conversion.

    Hello,

    Pi Model: Raspberry Pi 3
    RetroPie Version Used: 4.1
Built From: Pre made SD Image on RetroPie website
    USB Devices connected: PS3 controller + DataTraveler G4 64GB

As I said, right now everything works fine. My roms are on my SD Card.

When I insert my USB with roms in it. It seems to corrupt my retropie... I'm stuck at a terminal command and it shows kernel version, cpu temperature, but no way to get back to usual retropie interface..

    Thanks,
    JP

I think the PowerBoost1000 is 1000mAh charge rate only. The current draw while is use from the battery can be 2A+ (assuming your battery can handle it) with a 2.5A peak draw limit.

One thing about the powerBoost is that it talks about 1000C, the C rating of a battery or charger is normally a multiplier of the battery capacity in amps i.e. for a 1000mAh battery (1Ah) a 1C rating would be 1amp. Talking about 1000C implies you can somehow get 1000 times the batter capacity in amps, which you can't. To avoid confusion I think this should be removed from the description and just say 1A charge, 2A cont discharge.

@Kristopherson05 You have duplicated your question. You have asked this in this thread:
https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/5145/escape and you still don't provide ALL the information as detailed in https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first.

    misc_safequit = no

Where have you added this? What guide did you follow (if any) and have you posted the config to pastebin so that it can be inspected?

P.S. I have just read through some of your previous posts since July and numerous people have continually pointed you to read the https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first yet it looks like you still haven't done so. Don't be surprised if your posts go ignored if you continue to ask random questions without providing the required information or taking the time to search this forum first.

@Kristopherson05 That's not what you asked. You asked this:

is there anyway to make my joystick and buttons the arrow keys and escape button?

One solution is to use an Ipac2 keyboard decoder. You have not provided enough information (again) https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/3/read-this-first

@Alwaysbored612 said in Newbie Needs Suggestions:

Are most people using external speakers for similar builds? If so, how do you route the power through the Pi? USB maybe? Do you have a suggested product that works?

Don't route the power through the pi. Get a power brick with 5 usb ports on it rated at 3A then from that you can power usb speakers, led lighting and anything else. Use a separate power pack to power the Pi. Se my speakers here. Just a cheap set from Amazon, ripped apart. Really good quality.

@cybermrc you probably figured this out by now, but the cocktail switch only serves to flip player 2 upside-down. It won't induce the initial rotation.

@BuZz thanks for the help, I'll try a fresh install and give kodi17 a go. Not sure why I had neither xpad or xboxdrv installed on 4.1 and the controller worked fine after only editing rc.local

@daeks said in Getting neogeo to run:

i have read both, but didnt know that I am not allowed to rename it.

Well, the fact that the name of the zip file decide which game will be launched is written on the wiki.

And honestly, the opposite make no sense : if you randomly rename zip files, how could the emulator know what game it is ? How could the emulator find parent rom if it needs it ? You think he'll scan up to 10 GB of zip files and/or compare with his database of 10000 games to find the right one ? Launching a game would be pretty long... And what would be the purpose of having a software who put the right file into the right zip with the right name if the name is irrelevant ?
