I built the latest ES from source and it still saves just fine on roms that are scraped and roms with no metadata entered. I also would have noticed this problem when doing my initial tests for my long exit time fix.

@Pyjamarama most games arent compatible with the six button controller and thats what happens. You need to play non six button controller games in 2 button mode. The only non cd games that use the six button controller are street fighter 2 and strip fighter 2.

trying to find a way to use the cross up/down/left/right buttons on the game pad to navigate the menu, and then make the select button "back button in kodi" and the start button "the select button in kodi" ??

what's funny is that i change joystick.xml in kodi to these settings http://pastebin.com/bK5kmRQu ,

it didn't use the up/down/left/right cross button on my pad like i was expecting, and also it made my B button on my gamepad the Select button in Kodi, when i had set it to 11, but 11 is my start button according to these settings http://pastebin.com/Fk07zj53

@Dominus no. there are workarounds and hacks but short of a lot of coding brilliance you can't do it.

using a vnc client will work in an x environment, but emulationstation and retropie run direct on the framebuffer so that method will not work.

    Unity,
I was in a similar situation as you, but got the DS4 successfully paired today! My last install was only 1 week old, so not sure where it went wrong, but today I performed a fresh install and got it going!

My steps for successful DS4 pairing:

    • Flash retropie 4.0.2.
    • Sudo apt-get update
    • sudo apt-get upgrade
    • retropie setup script, update all installed packages (repetitive?)
    • From GUI, Bluetooth pair DS4(#2) using wired DS4(#1). (No freezing while "searching" this time!)
    • Configure input GUI, hold down a button on the bluetooth'd DS4(#2) and configure inputs
    • Shutdown system
    • Unplug wired DS4
    • Power up
    • Turn on DS4(#2), sync'd right up as player 1, hotkeys and all input working

It must have been a config file issue that was preventing the sync before, because I had performed all of the upgrades on my prior SD card, but this time around it worked wondefully! I have not attempted to sync 2 DS4s at the same time, yet.

P.S. I did zero of the 'extra setup' shown on the github for DS4 controllers. The native packages work for me now. I hope this helps you!

    Good luck!

I tried using a fresh 3.8.1 image for the zero, and the issue is still there. This is driving me nuts. Only thing connected to the Zero is a wifi and keyboard, only thing attached to my Pi3 is ethernet and keyboard.

. Filesare hidden in Unix systems.
Please start WinSCP > Tools > Preferences > Panels > Show Hidden Files
    in Profile selection mode.

You can also try to press Ctrl+Alt+H in explorer mode.

    Good luck

yep :) i found that out too, sorry i didn't think to look for that. they still would not exit even after the move. here is my file for
/opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/Xin-MoXin-MoDualArcade.cfg , which is my 2 player joysticks/buttons . they both connect through a usb circuit board, plugged into the pi via usb.

    Xin-MoXin-MoDualArcade.cfg file http://pastebin.com/uDmtnDDg
    retroarch.cfg file http://pastebin.com/ZTBb7Ne7

i updated retropi via the menu system to the latest version. it added new items as well in emulation station i see, such as msdos.

I found that I've written a response on the same subject about four months ago, so it's probably easiest if I just refer back to that entry here on the forum:

    https://retropie.org.uk/forum/topic/126/n64-controller-analogue-stick-issues/6

    [edit]

You may wish to use jstest to aid obtaining and setting the calibration values. If it's not already present on the system:
    sudo apt-get install joystick

    For more information, please see:
    http://mpolaczyk.pl/raspberry-pi-series-reverse-engineering-of-joystick-usb-communication-protocol/

jstest returns the full description of the device; this matches that displayed by emulators in RetroPie (in text at the bottom of the screen as an emulator loads; within the RetroArch Input menu; within Hatari's Joystick menu, etc)

    for example:

    jstest /dev/input/js0

Joystick (WiseGroup.,Ltd PS/SS/DC Joypad to USB BOX)

    jstest /dev/input/js1

Joystick (HuiJia PS/SS/N64 Joypad to USB BOX)

  • Update Raspbian? How?

Just to offer some insight, I've got a fresh installation of Raspbian Jessie with Pixel, and RetroPie 4.0.3 installed on a test Pi 3, and it's great. The new desktop is fine and reasonably swift, and RetroPie is fine.

I also performed a dist-upgrade on my main Pi 3, which was running Raspbian Jessie from the May 27th image, and had RetroPie 3.8 on it. This system had a lot of additional software, including a custom ffmpeg and retroarch build for RetroPie recording, along with monodevelop, VPN, kodi, and loads more, built over five months.

After the update the desktop suffered from random reloads of the main menu bar, but the worst effect was a noticeable lag when dragging windows around the screen. Moving Chromium around felt like the window was connected to the mouse by elastic (the rubber-banding effect in Daytona springs to mind!)

I'm currently restoring a backup. I think the only way forward, with a view to having a stable , reliable, system, is to manually rebuild the entire installation on the new Raspbian base, as I've no idea what's underlying the odd performance and stability issues. This seems to be a general rule with o/s upgrades on most platforms...

@r34per actually I lied to you sorta. I almost forgot that RetroPie isn't strictly for the raspberry pi. You can also install it on x86 (Ubuntu) which you can install on a virtual machine. There are just some slightly different packages due to the diff platforms.

@as692 there is an audio setting and it is set on something like exact. I changed it and it started working correctly. I can look later to find the exact setting for you.
