after your list is made you can enable "parse gamelist only" (or something like that) then the folders will not show in the list.

Remember if you add anything though you will need to turn it off so ES can see and add it..then when you are dine you can re-enable it.

@dnbarnes1983 Emulationstation is a general game launcher frontend - it's also used by Recalbox. You didn't specify in any of your posts you have RetroPie installed and which version.

Not sure what OS you're using but the default location is configs\all\emulationstation\downloaded_images[system_name] and you can remove them from there

For example: if I were to do this from my Windows machine I would open Windows explorer and browse the RETROPIE computer shown with the other computers attached to my network and then browse the above address. Then sort the folder contents by filetype and delete the unwanted video files

I don't think it's a perfect fit for all your problems, but in this project:
    https://github.com/PRElias/win10_emulation_station/tree/choco-auto-install

I built a powershell script which put video and marquee TAGs based on the name of your ROMs on you gamelist.

Copy the gamelist_manager.ps1 to your ROMs folder and execute it as admin.

    Worth a try

@darkside1305 did you ever solve this issue? I've tried everything listed elsewhere to no resolve. I keep getting the KB unknown key for many of the buttons I want to map. Using a bluetooth xbox one S controller. In the drastic.cfg file I notice that anything listed as KB unknown key is changed to a zero. If I knew how the emulator worked with retroarch I might be able to figure out the numbers but they do not match up with the normal 1-14 buttons retroarch uses.

I installed a new SD card today in my new system. So new flash on a 3B board and I downloaded all my games to it. Most systems I already have a gamelist.xml file but there were a few new systems I loaded due to having more space on the new SD card.

I just used the built-in scraper for 3 different systems - Master System, Gameboy and Atari 5200. It worked fine and was very fast too.

EDIT: I installed the Selph scraper right after posting this and re-scraped Gameboy and Gameboy Color romsets. It worked fine. I had to change the console source to screenscraper and it downloaded videos. Everything seems fine here.

    @t-prime
So, while I haven't begun with setting up my project, i still want to ask to be sure, as I'm quite new to all of this... (°_°). To keep the "fully working" hdmi, I can still follow the tutorial by adafruit (https://learn.adafruit.com/running-opengl-based-games-and-emulators-on-adafruit-pitft-displays/pitft-setup) and use their script, but I'll have to answer NO once I'm asked as you described and change the .txt file, right?

I remapped the controls of almost every core because of my joystick layout. I'm gonna buy a new controller with a different controller and default mappings are more fitting.

I need to have the cores just like if I never remapped their controls

This forum is not for general purpose emulation, but it's targeted specifically at RetroPie, a Linux based solution for installing and configuring emulators. Unfortunately, the emulator you're trying to use is not one of the RetroPie supported emulators.

Update your Retropie setup script first, then install from source.

@stoney66 Thanks for the advice. I've got a config for /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/USB\ Gamepad\ .cfg that looks reasonable, but still nothing is working. I have remapped them all repeatedly, and still no love. Any other ideas?

@240pnoob said in 240p Over Composite to CRT Problems:

any easy guides on how to do this? Keep in mind I have only had a raspi for about 24 hours, with 20 of them being me fighting it.

You really should read on about the Raspberry Pi and RetroPie in general before trying to customize your installation. Themes can be installed from the RetroPie setup script - https://retropie.org.uk/docs/Themes/.

@dsstrainer Thanks for sharing your find. I just tested it and it works fine, but only if the file is created (by touch in your example) when ES is already running. ES seems to delete the file at start up, because it's actually meant for ES' restart option, as I understand it.

Thus, to use it as an everyday fail-safe in case ES crashes you'd have to find a way to create it automatically after ES has already started (edit: and to manually delete it if you want to shut down ES for good).

Just an addition to your advice, since you don't need it yourself anymore. :)

@meynti The backup image contains 2 partitions, one for boot and one for the system itself. The 2nd partition is formatted with the Linux ext4 filesystem and cannot be read by Windows. You'll need a Linux system to be able to read it - either try a live linux distro (that you can run from an USB drive on your Windows PC) or find a Linux installed pc to read the image.
