    We'll see what we can do. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work. Actually, the worst thing that can happen is that we all die horribly from an explosion at a ball bearing factory, but my therapist keeps telling me that it's highly unlikely.

    @g0nz0uk

    Where is this file located so I can back it up in the future?

    /opt/retropie/configs/all/emulationstation/es_input.cfg

    I normally exit all emulators using the Start + Select buttons, but these no longer exit a game, how to I set this up. I now have to use the Esc on the keyboard (which is now working:))

    There ars a couple places you can put your RetroArch controller bindings and hotkeys (a.k.a.: Start + Select) in.

    Here is the global RetroArch configuration file.
    /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch.cfg

    I have an Xbox 360 controller and here are my "hotkey" settings:

    # Hotkey button input_enable_hotkey_btn = "8" #Select # Exit emulator input_exit_emulator_btn = "9" #Start # Saves state input_save_state_btn = "1" #B button # Loads state input_load_state_btn = "2" #X button # Move to next save state slot input_state_slot_increase_btn = "5" #R button input_state_slot_increase_axis = "+0" #Right on D pad/Left Stick # Move back a save state slot input_state_slot_decrease_btn = "4" #L button input_state_slot_decrease_axis = "-0" #Left on D pad/Left Stick # Reset ROM input_reset_btn = "0" #A button input_reset_axis = "-1" #Up on D pad/Left Stick # Toggle RetroArch menu input_menu_toggle_btn = "3" #Y button # Volume controls: mute, volume up and down input_audio_mute_axis = "+1" #Down on D pad/Left Stick input_volume_up_axis = "-3" #Up on Right Stick input_volume_down_axis = "+3" #Down on Right Stick # Take screenshot input_screenshot = "7" #Right Trigger button

    Another location is in the gamepad-that-you-are-using configuration file for RetroArch. Since I'm using a wireless Xbox 360 controller, mine is located here:
    /opt/retropie/configs/all/retroarch-joypads/Xbox360WirelessReceiver\(XBOX\).cfg

    (I re-organized it but) here are the contents of this file:

    input_device = "Xbox 360 Wireless Receiver (XBOX)" input_driver = "udev" input_b_btn = "0" input_a_btn = "1" input_y_btn = "2" input_x_btn = "3" input_l_btn = "4" input_r_btn = "5" input_l2_btn = "6" input_r2_btn = "7" input_l3_btn = "11" input_r3_btn = "12" input_start_btn = "9" input_select_btn = "8" input_up_btn = "15" input_down_btn = "16" input_left_btn = "13" input_right_btn = "14" input_l_y_plus_axis = "+1" input_l_y_minus_axis = "-1" input_r_y_plus_axis = "+3" input_r_y_minus_axis = "-3" input_l_x_plus_axis = "+0" input_l_x_minus_axis = "-0" input_r_x_plus_axis = "+2" input_r_x_minus_axis = "-2"

    @Cybermen I think you are over-thinking this. RetroPie is updated incrementally. Every few days. Sometimes twice in a day. Only a few minor changes happen between each version. Even between 4.1.x and 4.2. It is the stock image that is updated to the "new version" That was previously last done back in November 16. The new image is 4.2 but even if you install that updates have been implemented since that version of the image was done. The last update for example was 2 days ago.

    Hey thanks really winscp on the cdi did the trick guess I'll use that to transfer roms

    Also my f4 works fine turns out this wifi keyboard the Logitech k400 plus defaults the f keys to shortcuts and not function keys unless you toggle them with function
    Which is hella stupid lol

    Everything seems great thanks!

    @BuZz Sorry, I'm new to this and get confused between the RetroPie Forums and LibRetro Forums which link me to GitHub too. I wanted to update my previous post's title, but didn't know how, to see if runcommand.log error would spark others who know more about it.

    Update: I figured out how to change the title of my last post and am trying to delete this post but can't.

    @Andrewpk200 said in Using multiple Controllers:

    Also can the controls be set up to over ride on more game specific basis

    Pretty simple for RetroArch: https://retropie.org.uk/docs/RetroArch-Configuration/#core-input-remapping

    This seems the most similar to my issue I've found. What is that editor you are using for the .cfg file? Also, this wouldn't happen to be with DragonRise controllers would it?

    no worries i figured the dongles might be 'fighting' for priority as i beleave the dongles set the controller position before then sending it to the system itself therfore 2 dongles would mean 2 controllers trying to control P1 probly a more descriptive reason for this somewhere but i guess thats what is basicly happening there glad your sorted

    I'm reading it, apparently I just wasn't following what you were saying.
    Also now understand the code blocks command now, sorry about that.

    That launch script worked the game is opening in ES now.
    Thank you for walking me through that.

    Yeah, I realize that now.

    @Capeman i believe @fieldofcows and others are trying to find another video player to use instead of the OMX player. I do not believe that OMX will ever support overlays. In the mean time, i suggest reducing your video file sizes, use heat sinks and a fan on your pi, and set your screen saver to 1 or 2 minutes to go to a black screen. This should eliminate the heat issues while still allowing you to use the VLC player.

    Hi, I was looking for the "Buffer rendering" option for test it with some "black screen" games, where can I find that option? (was looking but didnt found it!) :S

    Apologies, I meant mame2003. Thanks for the info, after reading your post I had another idea, and I've found the best way to fix the sound:

    In the tab menu, switch on test mode (the place where you set free play, adjust difficulty etc for the game). In that menu there is a volume control option for the game itself. It's down at the minimum volume by default, crank it up and the sound is fine.

    Other Midway arcade games such as Mortal Kombat have the same issue and I see they all use the same sound chip. I haven't checked but I expect the same method will work.

    @Lukszgz They are looking pretty cool! Though I was excepting they are showing the original controller as well as your actual controller with some sort of remapping arrows. Something like this (just a quick paint job as concept):

    alt text

    I think I will put this on my neverending to-do list. It's great for friends coming over who are not familiar with the button mapping. Thanks for the inspiration! :)
